Assume Davis only gets 45%. Is it unrealistic to expect Bustamante to get at least 88% of the Davis vote (or 40% of the total) on the runoff?
Assume Busta gets the 40%. That leaves 60% to be split among all the other candidates. Can Arnie the Groper get 2/3 (67%) of these voters, or 40% of the total?
I don't think so. Bustamante Wins.
On Edit: Of course, the Repukes will try to steal it from Busta. Will they succeed? Only if we let them.

which show Davis closing the gap. I don't trust Gallup/CNN/USA Today and neither should you. It is pure Bushit. They are shilling for Arnold 24/7. It won't wash. California is a Democratic state.

that poll sampled only 787 people. In california, that's nothing. I trust no poll here in California.
You could do that poll ten times over with only that many people and get ten completely different results.
