7. I don't think they can give the finger to a Federal Judge |
|
They're stalling, and judging by the weak-ass arguments they threw out at the last minute on July 22, they're getting pretty desperate.

2. This will bring them down..... |

like no other scandal, IMO!
There's something VERY BAD in those pics, for them to be so slow about releasing them.

11. I hate to admit it, but what is the court going to do to the Pentagon? |
|
Put it in jail?
I think it was Hitler who wrote or spoke about 20 lawyers versus one man with an automatic weapon. The Pentagon doesn't have to do anything.

The court would start out by putting those immediately responsible in jail for contempt of court. The court would then start working its way up the food chain until it reached the Sec. of (War)Defense. At any point along the way the executive branch could step in and end the fiction that we are a constitutional republic, but I think they are not comfortable yet with the idea of overt fascism.

Because someone took the pics, someone publicized the first group we saw.
Hopefully, someone has copies somehwere that were made before they were turned over.
Hopefully, this someone exists, and wants to do the right thing.

22. I wonder if Darby, the man who released the photos to the press when the |
|
military superior that he slipped a copy under his office door would do nothing kept a copy for his own protection.
Seymour Hersh in in his speech talking about the most horrible things on the videos were the screems of young boys being gang raped by US Soldiers.
Mr. Hersh also told about a very worried mother who came to him and said her daughter had served at Abu Ghraib and left her husband and I think her child to live in a nearby city. The daughter started having black tatoos put all over her body and refused to talk or meet with her mother.
The mother went to the daughter's apartment and convinced the management to let her in and saw on her daughter's computer a disk, think it was the Darby disk, with things Mr. Hersh said no mother should see or daughter either.
If this daughter has a copy then so do others and it could be released anonymously the way Gannongate and other leaks have been on the Internet.
There was a horrible site by SMUG MOM who in a bragging way showed photos of her Navy Seal husband and his buddies abusing Iraqis in what looked like a home. When AP printed the photos this SMUG MOM claimed she had put the photos up for her friends and did not know that the public could access it and sued AP for showing her husband and his buddies faces saying AP endangered them.
AOL ran the story and showed an Iraqi man tense lying face up on the floor with the upper part of his face redacted and boots of several men around his face and I thought of Orwell's IF YOU WANT A PICTURE OF THE FUTURE IMAGINE A HUMAN BOOT STEPPING ON A HUMAN FACE, FOREVER.
People in other wars have had as trophies photos of like these and I hope that someone will release the photos anonymously on the Internet.
I also read that there were many 10 year old girls at Abu Ghraib being used as prostitutes. After reading Raven1.net and the Greenbaum speech by Dr. Hammond on the MK-ULTRA Monarch child torture, sex slavery to create assassins and spies, I certainly believe it and there are many articles that mention in passing that children are at Abu and Gitmo. Someone on Daily Kos wrote about photos of an Easter Egg hunt at Gitmo and said it is hard to remember that there are children there.
An American mayor who visited Gitmo recently said in online MSM that she thought that mind-control experiment were going on at Gitmo. See THEDOODABIDES.COM and his Ethical Biscuits page about contacting the Ethical societies of the Attorney and Medical Professions including Psychiatrists.

23. Barad, I knew someone who had a motorcycle helmet made for his cat and his |
|
cat rode on the back of the motorcycle. I love cats and this cat was so angry and almost seemed mentally ill.
When the man put the helmet on the cat's head, I could see how much the cats ears must have hurt from having them pressed down.
It looks like the green helmet you are using is a lighter plastic than the miniture motorcycle helment but the cat in your picture doesn't look any happier.
What if you had to wear a tight helmet that pushed your ears forward in an unnatural and painful position.
It might be cute to dress cats in dolls clothes and they don't look too happy but I think the tight helmet which has to press the cats ears down in a painful way is not amusing and if that is your cat and not just a photo avatar you found, I hope you have second thoughts about the cruelty of smashing and twisting a cat's ears held down in a painful position.
It seems strange to see that cruelty on a thread dealing with cruelty to people who are being treated worse than animals.

No no no...The cat helmet in this photos (which is funny) is obviously made out of something like a lime rind. You know, FRUIT. And not only that, but as a cat-lover, I'm sure you've _petted_ a cat. I'm also sure you've seen a cat that was _angry_. When you pet them, their ears fold back, painlessly. When they are angry, their ears do the same. No, this hillarious helmet did NOT hurt the cat's ears. And yes, I get MY ears bent all over the place in wrestling and can't feel a thing.
I admire your concern for animals. I'm a big supporter of animal rights myself, but I must admit that helmet is HILLARIOUS!!!!!

26. We've said that about everything........... |
|
this most horrid of administrations has done, and so far, nada, zilch, nothing. Although there are some fair sized holes appearing in the bush dyke of secrecy, nothing as yet has brought them down. I sincerely hope this hastens the process, but I think it's going to be death by a thousand cuts for this administration, not one single event. My god, there's been so many. Sooner or later the sheer volume of world class fuck-ups by these guys should sink them.

And ending this bullshit war based on lies, too.
People need to know what their tax dollars have been paying for over there.

13. We can be cynical AND see the importance of the release of photos. |
|
I doubt that anyone here looks forward to seeing even modified photos of the abuses that have been reported, and the papers would not be able to put a rape photo, unmodified, on the front page.
But what is happening in our name is not only news but information we both need and deserve to have.

writing about how ridiculous the case is that is being made to hide this evidence from the American people. Maybe I missed it? Anybody see any such thing? The ludicrous nature of their arguments should be plastered across the front pages of American news papers.

instead of repeating the talking points.
I hope we've reached the point of critical mass where our media starts to investigate everything these thugs have done since the came into office. Remember - Sunshine is =the best disinfectant.

24. Keep Up The Pressure... |
|
We must all keep up the pressure (especially the media coalition), and eventually the Pentagon will release the photos.
Like another poster said, the government isn't ready to display the kind of overt fascism required to refuse judge's orders in a highly publicized situation. Sure, they're absolute fascists pigs, but they don't want even MORE attention due to some huge row with a court order.
The government has to maintain the public image of being "freedom-loving" by the use of what's called Friendly Fascism. That is, they hide their fascism behind the typical rhetoric about democracy and liberty, and they keep things as innocuous as possible on the surface.
The photos will come out whether through the Pentagon or through someone who has copies.
