Breaking: U.K. to Institute New Deportation Measures (from news conf)
U.K. to Institute New Deportation Measures

LONDON - Prime Minister Tony Blair on Friday announced new deportation measures against people who foster hatred and advocate violence following last month's transportation attacks that killed 52 people and four suspected suicide bombers.

Clerics who preach hate and Web sites or book shops that sponsor violence would be targeted. Foreign nationals could be deported under the new measures.

Blair said his government was prepared to amend human rights legislation if necessary if legal challenges arose from the new deportation measures.

"Let no one be in any doubt that the rules of the games are changing," Blair said, promising to crack down on extremists blamed for radicalizing pockets of Muslim youth.

THIS from Balir's news conference that just ended on CNN.

THIS is what shrubby is being "told to share with Amerikans"

and what is THIS ?

THIS = Blair said his government was prepared to amend human rights

I watched as a Muslim journalist asked about the Muslim community
asking Blair for an "independent investigation into 7-7 attacks. Blair ignored the question - "they know what happened".

1. Oh, c'mon now! Churchill didn't deport Nazis and fascists from Britain.

(e.g., Lord Hawhaw, or the Mosleys). I wonder if this will be upheld by British courts. It seems too vague and broad.

4. They amended their laws years ago about being born in Britain.
Being born in Britain does not guarantee citizenship.

6. All European countries
have third and fourth generation Muslim "immigrants" now. The first mosque in Paris was built around 1920. The biggest influx of immigrants to Europe was in the 60s and 70s, when their labor was needed. Stricter immigration rules came later, as unemployment rose.
