AP: GOP Leaders Have Misgivings About Harris
Edited on Fri Aug-05-05 06:31 PM by Goldmund
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- Republican leaders have been looking around for someone other than Rep. Katherine Harris to run for the Senate, fearing too many Democrats and moderates still despise her over her role in the 2000 presidential recount. But the GOP may be stuck with her.

The White House, National Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee and Gov. Jeb Bush tried to talk Florida House Speaker Allan Bense into joining the race for Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson's seat in 2006. But Bense decided this week not to run.

Rep. Mark Foley has expressed mild interest in running but has not made any firm commitments.

With Bense out, the GOP committee said that it is still talking to candidates who have expressed interest in the race, but that it isn't trying to recruit anyone to oppose Harris.

2. Foley is gayer than champagne brunch at Liberace's,
and everybody knows it.

Hysterical that they have to choose between him and Cruella.

9. Over 50, you are responsible for your appearance.
Her face, her makeup, her garish smile reflect the self-centered life she has led. There is no love, no gentleness, no kindness, no compassion. The only things that shows are her mean streak and her greed.

Bush has praised, promoted and awarded medals and lifetime appointments to the other conspirators in the theft of the presidency 2000. (Except Barbara Olson. Did she know too much?) This must be tough on Harris. Bush had better worry lest Harris avenge his scorn by spilling the beans.

11. GOP lizards, take note
This is how Bushco treats a Good Soldier. It's arguable that Katherine's the reason they've enjoyed these 4 years of unrestrained smash-and-grab. Now, instead of some well-deserved booty kissing, she's getting the Crazy Aunt treatment. Pitiful.
