is this what the fundies think?
i belong to an orchid forum that has provided a 'political pit' for those of us who have become passionate about the shape of politics in this country. there are 4 or 5 of us on the left and almost as many on the right (our webmaster is very kind to provide this forum for so few of us).

anyway, one of the conservatives posted a war propaganda video link (ghost of patton) and i commented on it . . . mostly that the image on the video was not patton but george c. scott! she then posted this . . .

I just love this misguided theory that finding UBL in Afghanistan would have ended our involvment in the war on terror. I hope everyone thinking this way has considered what life would be like if we actually lose. Just think...burqas on the beach, no more movies, no more orchids.....

they believe shrub's sh*t! i was astonished to see this. i had to tell her how my life had changed since we lost vietnam . . . having to work with my waterboo in the rice paddies. :eyes:

i did not realize how removed from reality the citizen busheviks are. is this really what they think? (sorry, i guess i could answer my own question if i could actually stomach watching faux news.)

5. I find it rich that people think that a couple thousand Al queda members
would be able to topple a nation of 300 million, with the most powerful military force the planet has ever seen.
Just how would 3000 muslims/terraists do this?
Ask them that and they say "well it could happen".
They are fucking STOOPIT!

6. sorry to disappoint you
"would be able to topple a nation of 300 million, with the most powerful military force the planet has ever seen."

but it is exactly what a bunch of "ragheads" armed with AK 47, RPGs, a couple of shoulder missiles and a lot of stolen explosives are doing in Iraq.

Invading the US is of course another story, but it's not their primary aim. Their primary aim is to take over an area which is a sphere of influence and presence for the US.

and so far they are winning

13. I am aware of that
I just wanted to point out that it is not the numbers of the population or the might of the military power which is decisive in the end. It's the strategy and the policies.

France learned that in Algeria and Vietnam

The US lost in Vietnam because the Vietnamese were willing to cope with 5 millions deaths, while 100 000 were too much for the US.

14. In the case of a foreign invader I can see how the numbers may not
make the difference. But "them" successfully invading and taking over the good ole US of A, just wouldnt happen.

16. That's what I mean too
because how well equipped and cruel the invaders would be they would soon see an American resistance popping up from "nowhere".

Probably the biggest problem for the fundies would be to explain their collaboration with the invaders "in God's name". After all they have so much in common.

9. Bush is giving them their dream
BinLaden and Hussein have hated each other for years. BinLaden hated Saddam cause he had rule over a country and BinLaden wanted that. Hmm looks as though he's getting that now (if he's still a live).

12. Actually, their primary aim is to "take over" an area _WHERE THEY LIVE!_
I don't know where you are coming from with your "sphere of influence for the US" idea.

7. Yes, RWingers claim radical Islamists want to take over the world
Edited on Fri Aug-05-05 07:23 PM by wishlist
I have some otherwise extremely intelligent well-educated relatives who have totally bought into the Bushco propaganda that everything this administration does (invading Iraq, Abu Ghraib atrocities, leaking Valerie Plame's identity, etc) is justified because Bush and Co are just acting forcefully to defeat radical Islamists bent on world domination. In addition to Iraq, they advocate aggressive pre-emptive military action against Iran and any other countries that Bush considers necessary for the U.S. to subdue and control. Their only solution to the threat of terrorism is killing as many terrorists as possible while denying that our misguided actions such as invading Iraq and the Abu Ghraib incidents have fueled the insurgency and increased terrorist attacks.

10. Keep hitting them with the truth... maybe ONE of therm will wake up.
You might show all the parallels between x-tian fundies and muslim fundies. There is a wealth of information here at DU. Open two browser windows, one with DU and the other with the forum that you mentioned. Cut and paste info from here to there, slamming them with facts and verifiable sources. Prove to them that they have been lied to. If you are successful, we will have yet another American armed with the truth.

This is how we are going to defeat the GOP Nazis.

19. We'll see.
Will she actually take the time to research? If she does, will she go to newmax, drudge, or some rw propaganda website? I bet she doesn't know the hostages were held secretly at the request of BushSr&Co, until they could secure the election for Reagan™.

So many Americans are in the dark. So sad.
