1. I voted for Karl Rove
but the Wash. Post story said TWO top WH officials called six journalists with the name of Wilson's wife. Maybe the other was Cheney?

12. I tend to agree, it has the handiwork of Rove
I will admit it is hard to tell considering how easily those people can lie through their teeth.

George Will pointed out today that there were 2 White House sources and that they had told 6 different reporters, including Bob Novak, that Wilson's wife was CIA.

I doubt that the leak came from the State Department or the CIA, so it must have come from Condi Rice's staff, and they wouldn't leak it unless told by Rove to do so.

Someone is going to hang about this.

3. Suspect it was a minion of Rove's
He will slither out and the minion will be toast - until 3 months have passed and land a cushy job with Halliburton.

4. Her compromised job as important as the act of "outing"
This has been discussed on other threads (which I don't have), but is worth a mention. She was involved generally in efforts to track and prevent the spread of WMD. Thus the "outing" is ironic, to say the least, as the Iraq invasion was rumored to have something to do with these.

9. I say Rove knew it was a felony and set somebody up, but will still be
criminally culpable.

8. Other... By committee
There was probably a pow-wow in the basement where this was discussed.. and perhaps several people "made the calls".. they did shop it around ..

These people play for keeps.. lives and reputations are meaningless to them..:(

15. Minor officials
directed by higher level ones - probably Rove or Cheney are responsible, but they will not get stung.

16. I think it was Andrew Card. n/t
But, it could very well be Rove...he's just usually too "buttoned up" to make this kind of big mistake.

18. Cheney
He has already taken the sword and is about to fall on it.

Isn't it interesting that Faux asked the most probing questions of Rice today? You gotta wonder what they are thinking - the temptation of bashing CNN (b/c Novak is there) vs. needing to prop up the Bush adminstration. I would think that someone at Faux knows who it is (one of the reporters called must have been from Faux) and Faux has been given permission to ask tough questions.

19. Of course, I don't KNOW, but I'm sayin' Cheney just for his pure meanness
He's truly a frightening hater. Even staunch Republicans often have problems with him.

There's a streak of recklessness of late in this man, and I wouldn't put it past him for a second. It's also his style: ham-fisted opposition crushing.

Can't wait to find out...
