I Really Miss NewsWorld International! (Current TV sucks)
I really miss NewsWorld international- the news from Germany, Japan, Britain, and the National from Canada- the documentaries, the International news shwos- all of it gave in depth and insightful coverage sorely lacking here.
Why AL GORE, did you have to kill an intelligent alternative to give us a bunch of 20 somethings talking about their shoes??????????

5. Newsworld International was owned by CBC Newsworld (Canada)
Peter Mansbridge, who is the anchor for "The National", a nightly newscast on CBC, told us a week or so ago that they had sold Newsworld International, a separate channel, to Al Gore and his partner and he wished them well in their efforts.

4. I agree
Why couldn't he stick his channel some place else? I think I'm just too darn old to get into Current. May have to invest in one of those new-fangled video tape recorders, 'eh?:P

6. I have wondered the same thing
My twenty-something daughter is furious with Al Gore for destroying News World International. She isn't vapid, she doesn't need meaningless "interactivity." I heard that Gore is only a figurehead for this destruction of a real news alternative, that the Murdoch empire is the main investor. I don't know if that's true, but if it is, it sure would explain why the attack on NWI instead of one of the numerous channels broadcasting pap.

7. Newsworld International was purchased because it got low ratings and
it was for sale.

If Al Gore hadn't bought it, someone else might have bought it and changed it.

8. Better Current TV....
than a FoxNews redux.

Current's not so bad, I've stopped to watch a few interesting micro-documentaries on it as I've been channel surfing.

NWI had great shows, and it's definitely missed in our household as well, but just because it's gone doesn't mean that its replacement is to blame.

One of our VH1 channels was recently switched over to LOGO, a new gay network -- so why complain that their content isn't like VH1?

Just because a channel occupies the same frequency on your television doesn't mean the content delivered is going to be comparable.
