"I wish the media would show all the good things going on in Iraq"
Do you ever here this from righties?

How the hell do they know "all the good things" that are going on?

I think this is a ploy to blame "the media" for when we do have to bail. The righties will say we could have "won" but the media turned opinion against winning.

I swear to god they will.

10. Whatever happened to that talkshow crew?
Those radical right talkshow hosts that were going to "set us straight" about "all the good that is going on" and saying that the "leftwing media doesn't report". Oh brother!

Did they leave the green zone?

15. I asked the same thing last night. . .
and robertarctor gave me this url:

http://www.moveamericaforward.org/index.php/MAF/CurrentProject/the_truth_tour_live_from_baghdad

as robert said, these are some serious mutants.

I found the site to be hilarious. Every photo was taken well-behind American lines and when someone does venture out with a patrol, their accounts are devoid of action and vacilate between the belief that the Iraqis are inexperienced and timid to assertions they are "almost ready" to take over their own patrols.
Quite enlightening. . . in ways I'm sure they never expected.

23. Ha...the photos are all with American troops, mostly at CENTCOM.
How come they're not touring around Iraq taking in the sights and chatting with the grateful locals?

How come they're not showing us all the wonderful "good things" the cons say we don't get to see...new hospitals, schools, power plants, ... oh that's right THERE AREN'T ANY!

3. "How the hell do they know "all the good things" that are going on?"
Because their monkey emperor tells them that and complains about the "media filter", and they swallow every word.

4. They own the media, and have had every opportunity to show
how much good they've done. All I've heard about recently was the population is being vaccinated...with what, mercury laden pharmaceuticals? It'll be interesting to see what the autism rates are in Iraq in a few years.

11. Like The Sun Rose....
in the east, and set down in the west. Oh and there seems to be an abundance of air to breath this mourning!
We Iraqi's don't want to seem ungrateful for this, but someday could we possibly have running water and electricity?

12. the reportors need motivation
I am sure that if GWB and his cabinet would spend a month on the front lines in Iraq; it would really give those journalists some spine.

16. I know a wingnut...
that I won't even debate about "all the good things" with; when he said it.
He is hard headed.

However I did respond:

"Lots of money is being made off this "war". They have a vested interest in keeping it going.
I always was in favor of treating the Tower bombings as a criminal event, locating the perps, and hanging them by the balls.
There was no money in that, for Halliburton, so a "war" was started against an unrelated country and now many people are suffering while the region is inflamed."

17. What good things?
Their infrastructure is still in a shambles and people are being murdered left and right.

It's so dangerous NOBODY can even drive to and from the Baghdad airport.

If there were "good things" to show the US public, wouldn't the gov't propaganda machine be in high gear pumping it out?

18. If there were good things going on, there would be plenty of photo ops
Since this administration has paid journalists and controlled media coverage more than any other in U.S. history, you can bet Bushco would be arranging many visits of high ranking personnel and reporters with camera crews to showcase all the good things we have accomplished in Iraq if there really were any wonderful improvements since we invaded. Instead, high ranking officials visit secretly with no advance notice or fanfare and only a couple of imbedded reporters are there (one who was wounded) providing reports about the dangerous conditions.

20. The answer to that argument is super simple
"The media DOES show every last good thing that goes on in IRaq. The problem is, it happened last Tuesday and didn't amount to much."

21. I agree thats a copout
But I dont appreciate some posters implying that all the Americans over there are evil. You get that once in a while here. Some actually are trying to do good but of course the focus should be on what we are doing to this country which is almost all bad.

24. Fox News used to have segments on the good things in Iraq
There was one about a soldier handing out toys to the Iraqi children, and another one about a newly formed Iraqi swimteam.

And of course the 100,000 dead civilians are no big deal because people swimming and kids are playing with toys. :sarcasm:

Apparantly a new school being built is worthy of international news coverage, but a school being blown up is not news worthy.

What other countries do these people believe deserve international attention every time they put up a new school? Should have we given attention to Saddam Hussein when his government put up a school?

Sure there are good things going on in Iraq, in fact there has never been a single country in the world in which there were never good things going on. If you looked hard enough you could even find some good things to report in Nazi Germany. That does not mean they should focus the news reports on those things however.
