Here's a way to support the protest at Crawford
The AP article is on CNN's site:

Soldier's mom protests near Bush's ranch

CRAWFORD, Texas (AP) -- The angry mother of a fallen U.S. soldier staged a protest near President Bush's ranch Saturday, demanding an accounting from Bush of how he has conducted the war in Iraq......

http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/08/06/bush.peace.mom.ap/index.html

The press is already there and with the new poll numbers on Iraq, this would be a logical element of the story to cover.

Under "Contact", this is the page that appears when selecting:

Other stories:
• News in general (What are we reporting that YOU want to talk about?)

http://www.cnn.com/feedback/forms/form1.html?18

Tell them this story interests you. Tell them you want to know more about it.

How else did the tiny group outside Schiavo's hospice gain attention?

3. Done. Great idea!
I wrote: "Can't seem to find any follow up on the Cindy Sheehan story. Is she going to spend the night next to the road in Crawford? Did the president ever come out and talk to her? Why doesn't he say a few words to her? It might be comforting for all the other parents who have lost their kids."

Lets see if we can't get them to switch their human interest story from Aruba to the USA.

6. I like that- Even CNN should be able to see the potential for drama
:( Sorry that's even a consideration, but those 61% who DISAPPROVE of the way Bush is handling Iraq should all be interested in this protest.

7. GOD! ARUBA! DEAD ON!
WHO CARES ABOUT FUCKING ARUBA!?!?! I MEAN, SAD CASE, BUT WHY DOES IT GET PICKED OUT OF THE THOUSANDS OF MISSING PERSONS CASES -UNLESS ALL THOSE REPORTERS ARE JUST LOVING HAVING TO FLY OUT TO ARUBA TO COVER THE STORY.
SUCH BULLSHIT.

4. My response
This is a story that needs to be covered. As citizens, we deserve the right to know why our most valuable resource, our sons and daughters are being killed. This administration has been evasive, dishonest, and secretive about everything it does from the beginning. These people are public servants whether elected or appointed. Their loyalty should be to us. As representatives of the "fourth estate" your organization holds some responsibility to help expose the truth. Show that you have the fortitude and integrity to help expose the truth.

Respectfully,

tech3149

Also, I wrote to NBC, CBS and ABC News asking them for coverage, too. The more, the merrier.

9. Excellent! One local decided NOT to cover them- this is nuts
snip>
The decision-maker on the KTRK TV news desk told an inquiring caller today that KTRK would not be covering the protest by the Gold Star Families for Peace and the Veterans for Peace at Crawford, Texas, because the President tells us we must "stay the course" in Iraq, and we "need to listen to him." The news desk occupant went on to admit that he had no clue about the meaning of the terms "Gold Star Family" or "Downing Street Memos." For those who would like to give him a clue, the KTRK phone number is 713.669.1313, and their web contact page is here. See a sample communication below the fold.

16. Done. I told them I had seen the drinking college boys story
repeated about 5 times today, but like to hear more about Cindy Sheehan & the Gold Star Families in Crawford, Texas, to ask Mr. Bush some questions.
