What happens if Bush is the Leaker?
Is this why folks like Novak are freaking out and Judith Miller is willing to sit in jail to protect her 'source'? Only one source seems to be unwilling to give permission to reporters to talk, then that source must be someone major.

We know that the main meeting where Plame was discussed was on AF1 on the way to Africa. I can just imagine Bush swaggering in and all po'd. Because of Wilson and Plame, they can't plant WMD's in Iraq and it's coming out the 16 words were bullshit. Bush is lashing out. Yeah, what's that bitch's name? You know Wilson's wife. Yeah, that's her. Get her.

What happens if it turns out that this whole fiasco was set off by Bush himself. Then what do we do?

5. That is a serious possibility
but who's going to enforce it? Most of the NG is overseas and local police can't handle the work load they already have.

A big question is what do the people in DOD decide to do? Has Rummie managed to flush out all the good ones, leaving behind only yes men? I don't think most of the people in the military really support Bush or Rummie any more, but how will they react when the time comes? That will be the exciting part, I suppose.

7. Then we can leave him out in the desert
so that the fire ants can eat him. Just like in those old western movies that he probably loves.

6. He resigns, and Cheney pardons him
Remember Nixon and Ford???

I've always wondered about Chimpy's role. Judith Miller is no Freedom of the Press hero--she was the Chalabi shill in the runup to the war, touting that embezzler of Jordanian funds as the George Washington of Iraq (ironic, since Chalabi speaks Arabic with a Lebanese accent).

The only reason I can fathom that she is keeping silent is because HER source didn't sign a waiver (Chimp ordered everyone ELSE to, but did HE??? Ask that question of Scotty McClellan, David Gregory!!!!) or she is scared shitless that she will be hit by a bus if she opens her mouth...

I hope she left a video deposition with a dozen lawyers...just in case.

8. Well maybe God told him to do it. Has God steared him wrong yet?
I ask you.

Actually if he is the leaker that means that he has figured out how to get an outside line on the White House phones.

9. Does anyone have a list of people who went on this trip?
Edited on Sun Aug-07-05 08:42 AM by DoYouEverWonder
apparently the WH has refused to release that information, but there must be plenty of press reports from that trip that we can figure out who went along.

Here's the short list:

News reports have put Condi Rice, Colin Powell, Ari Fleisher and Andrew Card on the trip. Also, there were three planes that went on the trip: Air Force One, a second plane with reporters and other White House officials, and a third plane.

First Lady Laura Bush
- Andrew H. Card, Jr. - White House Chief of Staff

National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice
- Dr. Jendayi Frazer - Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for African Affairs at the National Security Council.

Also...
Andrew Young - Leon H. Sullivan Summit Chairman
David O'Reilly - Chairman & CEO, O’Reilly Automotive, Inc.

President Bush Visits Africa

(Not on list but also on trip, Ari Fleisher and Dan Bartlett )

Pretty short list. It would seem that one of these WH Officials would have to be the original leaker. We know that Powell brought along the memo with the gory details, but who participated in the discussion about how to handle the Wilsons? Bush, Condi, Powell, Card, Bartlett or Fleisher? Who called up Rove from AF1 and told him to go after Plame?
