Newsweek: Leak prosecutor's boss likely to be replaced with Bush classmate
Newsweek's Michael Isikoff will splash a story in tomorrow's Newsweek which reveals that the boss of CIA leak probe prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald is likely to be replaced by a former Bush classmate at Yale.

13. Will be his boss on Plame. This guy would replace deputy AG Comey
Deputy AG Comey who is Fitzgerald's friend and boss in the Plame investigation is leaving for a job with Lockheed Martin. His probable replacement is this Skull and Bones friend of Bush. This new guy will become Fitzgerald's superior in the Plame Grand Jury investigation. Former Deputy AG Comey has given Fitz a free rein. Question is will Comey's replacement who is a Bush buddy do the same or try to replace Fitz or rein him in?

14. Hope that CIA and high profile of Plame case will prevent firing of Fitz
There is a major power struggle going on between the neocon/WH and a contingent of old school CIA that support Plame/Wilson and got unfairly blamed for 9/11 and Iraq intelligence failures. Bush is winning so far with Porter Goss and purging of CIA plus Sen. Pat Roberts Intell committee whitewashing and stalling on investigating false WH claims about WMDs.

Certainly many of the leaks right now are by the old school CIA and govt officials who are upset over losing influence over U.S. foreign policy and being made scapegoats for the WH/neocon screwups. Hopefully, WH will not be so bold to risk a backlash by infuriating so many current and former CIA and Govt officials by shutting down the Plame investigation. But the WH nearly succeeded in totally preventing any 9/11 investigation (which turned out to be a whitewash) and then risked everything to push invading Iraq on false premises, so anything is possible with Bush and Cheney at the helm.

5. Leak Investigation: An Oversight Issue?
Aug. 15, 2005 issue - The departure this week of Deputy Attorney General James Comey, who has accepted the post of general counsel at Lockheed Martin, leaves a question mark in the probe into who leaked the identity of CIA operative Valerie Plame. Comey was the only official overseeing special counsel Patrick Fitzgerald's leak investigation. With Attorney General Alberto Gonzales recused, department officials say they are still trying to resolve whom Fitzgerald will now report to. Associate Attorney General Robert McCallum is "likely" to be named as acting deputy A.G., a DOJ official who asked not to be identified because of the sensitivity of the matter tells NEWSWEEK
