3. can you post the links here?
I've started copying some of the links, but I also have to have a life sometimes...

actually, I'd done this months before and just added from time to time. It was useful to send to people after we talked about this issue.

it's also fun to get to be one of the first on your block to get to say...they're going down like five dollah hos...

5. Right?! I've been talking up this Wilson story to friends for months
Usually ending with Mark My Words, Rove is going DOWN. I just LOVE seeing this on the front page at last. Thanks for the compilation of links - that's excellent. I have a transcript of the Inslee event (just the relevant remarks) - can post later.

8. Raindog, thanks for the linx
I can't wait to do my own "detective" work on this "case". This will be fun reading for the coming week.

Now, I'm trying to look at this story from the WH's point of view. They know that, once again, they are in crisis mode. They know this story is threatening their very existence in Washington.

They will probably be holding emergency meetings first thing tomorrow morning. What to do? Ambassador Wilson has already pointed an accusing finger at Rove. He doesn't seem to be the type who would accuse him off the cuff. If I were Rove right now, I would get some cardboard boxes and start packing my stuff.

Here's what I believe they will do: they will find a fall-guy. Maybe Cobra-leeza, maybe her lackey Steven Hadley. I highly doubt Rove would let himself get thrown to the wolves. That's not his style.

We'll see....should be a VERY exciting week.

10. Check out LBN and the lastest TPM - Rove has history with Novak - 41 fired
Blast from the past?

Sources close to the former president say Rove was fired from the 1992 Bush presidential campaign after he planted a negative story with columnist Robert Novak about dissatisfaction with campaign fundraising chief and Bush loyalist Robert Mosbacher Jr. It was smoked out, and he was summarily ousted.

14. thanks!
I'm only here sporadically today, so I really appreciate that you've posted the link here. If you find more, please, please feel free to link them here.

It's so much easier to compile and keep a record of the story that way.

19. Novak's "Alibi"
http://www.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0309/29/cf.00.html

ROBERT NOVAK, CO-HOST: Paul, I have been beleaguered by television networks around the world, but I am reserving my say for CROSSFIRE.

Nobody in the Bush administration called me to leak this. In July, I was interviewing a senior administration official on Ambassador Wilson's report when he told me the trip was inspired by his wife, a CIA employee working on weapons of mass destruction. Another senior official told me the same thing.

As a professional journalist with 46 years experience in Washington, I do not reveal confidential sources. When I called the CIA in July, they confirmed Mrs. Wilson's involvement in a mission for her husband on a secondary basis, who is -- he is a former Clinton administration official. They asked me not to use her name, but never indicated it would endanger her or anybody else.

Rove should Resign: President Bush and the Wilson Case

It has for some time struck me that despite all the phony talk about "compassionate conservatism," the Bush team has just plain mean tendencies. The giddy pleasure Bush took in executions used to disgust even fellow Republicans, and it briefly emerged as an issue in the presidential debates in fall of 2000. Then in response to home made bombs in Iraq making hamburger of our brave men and women under arms, Bush said "Bring it on!" (He wanted more mayhem wreaked on our troops?) This streak of sadism has come into public view with the issue of Ambassador Joseph Wilson's wife. Wilson, a former Foreign Service Officer who served his country with distinction in difficult postings, including Iraq, was asked by the CIA to go to Niger in spring of 2002 to check out the plausibility of the allegation that Iraq was buying uranium.
( )
Wilson's account was extremely damaging to them and deprived them of plausible deniability. Without a public account from Wilson of his mission, Bush administration officials could pretend, as Paul Wolfowitz had, that the intelligence was just murky. But if a retired FSO could put the matter to rest with a brief excursion, and if International Atomic Energy Commission official Muhammad el-Baradei could see the forged Niger documents for what they were immediately, then the intelligence was not murky at all. It was crystal clear. There was a fraud going on.( )Since the Iraq War was a get-up job based entirely on fraudulent or shaky intelligence that was further slanted in their public presentation of it by Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Cheney and Bush, there must be many US government employees who could tell tales on the administration's dishonesty and incompetence. The White House officials who outed Ms. Plame were telling them that the full weight of the US government would come down on them like a ton of bricks if they dared do any such thing.

What I would say is that Karl Rove should be made to resign if he said the words attributed to him, "Joe Wilson's wife is fair game." He was condoning the breaking of US law and the endangering of US intelligence personnel and assets, especially in the field of Ms. Plame's specialty, the tracking of Weapons of Mass Destruction. And that is the greatest irony of all. Ms. Plame, who really was working to stop the spread of weapons of mass destruction, has been ruined by persons who only pretended to do so for political gain, and whose invasion of Iraq did nothing to make the US one whit safer.

Meanwhile, Joe Wilson is a genuine hero, who has spoken truth to power and refused to be intimidated. Anyone in the US government who has any admiration for him and any gumption at all, and who cares about our country, should emulate his example if they have further evidence for deliberate Bush administration discounting of solid intelligence in favor of their stock cover story on Iraq. Make it public. Now.
