CondiLiar says the insurgency in Iraq is "LOSING STEAM"!
Another "last throes" comment from the WH regime that doesn't deal with facts, just their own twisted fantasies. And what an insult to military families that are losing loved ones in IraqNam.

US says Iraq insurgency 'losing steam' despite heavy casualties

WASHINGTON (AFP) - The United States continued to put the best face on its efforts to dislodge a violent, entrenched insurgency in Iraq, despite a fortnight of heavy US losses there.

Although at least 38 American military personnel have died over the past eleven days in Iraq, US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said in an interview published in Time magazine that the insurgency in Iraq is "losing steam."

<snip>

Nonetheless, Rice told Time that Iraq's "rather quiet political progress" remains on track, and that the insurgents will eventually be defeated politically and militarily.

"If you think about how to defeat an insurgency, you defeat it not just militarily but politically," Rice said.

"It's a lot easier to see the violence and suicide bombing than to see the rather quiet political progress that's going on in parallel," she said.

1. I'm sure the widows and orphans in Ohio will be...
... relieved to hear that.

This reminds me of the pathetic statements made during Viet Nam.

11. The fact is, for every Iraqi insurgent we kill, we create 10 more.
Edited on Sun Aug-07-05 03:03 PM by joemurphy
Iraq is an Arab society where the "blood feud" rule operates. If
an insurgent is killed, his family members will feel compelled to take up arms to revenge him. Some U.S. generals (usually speaking candidly and off the record) have said this. It might be different if it were Iraqis killing Iraqis, here. Then the blood-feud equation might start to equal out. But it's Americans killing Iraqis.

We're just exacerbating an already bad situation in Iraq. I see no alternative but to cut our losses and pull out, funding the Iraqi government that we create to take our place, and hoping for the best.

Personally, all I see coming out of our triumphal march to Baghdad to get rid of Saddam is: (1) a new Kurdish state emerging that will spell trouble for Turkey, Syria, and Iran; (2) a civil war erupting between Sunnis (funded by Saudi Arabia and Syria) and Shia (funded by Iran; and/or (3) a rump Iraq divided between the Kurds, the Sunnis, and the Shia that will be quarreling over oil resources for years to come. The likely victors will be Shias who will be closely aligned with Iran, and the Kurds who are the best armed and cohesive group in the country. The Sunnis will be left armed and embittered and will fight with the Shia. There will be trouble in Iraq for years into the future.

We'll see. I'm saving this post to see how prescient I turn out to be.

I guess they're now cookin' with gas. I know why these liars in this corrupt administration say what they say; the truth is too awful. I just object to the complicity of the media in quoting what they say without mentioning how asinine the comments are.

21. He looks so young

This Goofy administration has finally come up with a sorta new meme.
Losing steam, I think they mean losing interest. The new shaped charge supposedly came from Iran or whatever. Soon the dubya gang will turn their stealth and cruise missiles on the next foe and will try to obfuscate the people still losing lives in Iraq.
Vultures of Life and Condi is looking oh so presidential in their freeping minds.
