Time for DUers to gather at Crawford just as we travelled for Andy?
I got this from this thread

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x4283010

but thought a call to DUers deserved its own thread. So many travelled to say goodbye to our beloved Andy. Cindy could use our support. Is it time for another trip?

2. I'm game.
I could stay for a week. It's a 15 hour drive from here, so it would be more like a 5 day stay in Crawford, figuring driving time. I'm in Illinois if anyone in this state wants to do a caravan to Crawford. :hi:

You gonna go helderheid?

9. Don't worry about those bumper stickers, anymore.
Edited on Mon Aug-08-05 12:20 AM by txindy
The other thread where you mentioned this locked before I could reply!

There are LOTS of cars in Texas with anti-B*sh stickers on them. Lots of cars with Kerry/Edwards stickers on them, too. I kid you not. I use magnets, myself, with stickers on them. I replace them according to my mood. I've gotten lots of nice comments about them and not one negative one, so... Go figure! (Still, there are places I will remove them before leaving the car in the parking lot. Just in case. ;) )

If they worry you, buy a couple sheets of blank magnetic material (at Michaels, etc.), cut them to the size of your current bumper stickers, and put the blank ones on top of them. If it looks too silly, put some other non-political bumper stickers on top of the magnets. Remove temporary magnets at will. Flash Texas seven messages at the end of your trip as you drive home.

Texans, REAL Texans, are very courteous and will treat a mother and young son with respect and care. Yes, even those who still support hewhomustnotbenamed. That's why Junior's treatment of Cindy will not go over well in this state. He'll still have the rabid support of the richer city/suburban dwellers, but true Texans (who outnumber that lot) will be appalled.

10. I can't go, but I've found some cheap flights...
...through Southwest.

I'm too young, and I have scheduling issues to boot, but Southwest has some pretty cheap fares (under $100 each way) to Austin (which, as I understand it, is fairly near Crawford) from several US cities.

http://southwest.com/hotfares/hotfares_air.html

Just glancing, I see Albuquerque, Chicago, Columbus, Detroit, Ft. Lauderdale, to name just a few.

12. Kick...
and just a warning that Ill kick it again tomorrow :)

If SouthWest is an option in your area, then look into the 100 buck fare! I mean, really.. what do you have going on that is more important then heading down for some camping in Crawford?

True story. Crawford is in the middle of nowhere, there is a sign on a community power station that says "Proudly supplying power to the President and First Lady". All over town there are these horrible pics of him and Laura, like June and Ward Cleaver.

It's worth 100 bucks for that alone.

Still have this crappy flu or whatever it is.
How long are you all going to be there?
Maybe in a few days I can head down--it's only about 4 hours from me.

17. Get over your flu, Horse.
My gosh, standing in the heat and anywhere near that evil weed would cause you a relapse. You need to fully recover and get strong. It wouldn't help anyone if folks had to worry about your health in that heat.

Others will be going, you get well and keep things kicking here. :kick:

Take care and I hope you get to feeling better soon.

21. I can't go, but I can send money to someone who otherwise would not
be able to go if money is the key - I can send $40 now and more later in the week.

I am only 5 weeks post-op after major joint reconstruction, and my doctor would have a Hissy if I drove 1000 miles, stood around on uneven surface for many hours or days, then got arrested. (No, SS are not kinder to the the handicapped....) I just physically can't do it, though I wanna be there so bad.....

If there are other Coloradans who can't go, I'll be happy to help organize our own Peace Camp North at the State capital.
