If he's beginning a C-SPAN phone-in at 7:45 am, does that mean he's scheduled to make the rounds on the 7:00 am network morning talk shows?
Ooooooh I hope so... and if that's the case, I imagine they'll each lead with this leggy story. They'll likely lead with it even if Wilson isn't making an appearance.
Thanks for the heads-up, radfringe!

I plan to be watching. Don't turn on CNN though (at 7:00 am). They are supposed to have stories on Laura Bush's travels. Yuk!

some solid points were made-
haven't read the papers this morning so don't know the details, just calling to support pez Bush.
calling Our guy a liar? Our guy is not a liar.
intelligence so stripped down before pez Bush came in. Everything excused during Clinton years.
So nice to have a pez to be proud of. Honest, doing the best job. lies misstatements now = Liberal Press. Thank goodness for an honest pez. Finally.
he's done a great job. need to remember 911 when everyone was on bush's side.
I listen morning after morning- cannot Believe conspiratorial, crackpot people. Al Qaeda, Hezbollah, stick together. So I support pez Bush.
ARRGH!

Not courageous. We live in free country, reminding us of constitutional guarantees and civic responsibilities.
That last woman was a hoot! He doesn't look like he's honest, maybe his wife was source of leak and ends with maybe Hillary met with Saddam.

I've wanted to hear this man speak and his knowledge of Africa and his sticking to the facts is impressive.
I'm curious about his relationship with BushI types...the Scowcrofts and others who aren't very happy with the Iraq invasion and if there's some kind of Bush family feud brewing around this.

13. Here comes the Blame Clinton callers... |
|
...with the usual guilt by association blather. They seem to disregard the fact that he also worked for George's poppy.
- The host is asking Wilson if he's a 'Democrat'...which of course has nothing to do with the subject at hand. It's interesting how the host is trying to slant the issue.

He's one of the more right-leaning of the moderators, and Wilson slammed it back. It's hard for these hive-dwellers to understand the concept of a career diplomat and the majority of our government that never changes when the government does.

is getting in all the points. He had a good Republican caller who said that although he supports this administration, ANYBODY who knew about this or authorized it should be held accountable, even impeached.
There was a caller from Tennesee that sounded like a DU'er, and another angry Deomcrat woman who said she felt let down by her party.
WIlso went on to talk about his campaign through Moveon.org, etc.

Remember, he downplayed Rove...and someone in another thread mentioned Fleischer...who could be a convenient fall-guy.
Again, there's this disconnection to protect Dubya. Now is that a tact by Wilson to enhance his credibility?

I find Wilson to be extremely honest. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. If anything it just shows how out of the loop GW is. It shows he is a figurehead.

And the doofus flaunts that he doesn't bother reading the papers...Condi and Unka Dick tell me what I need to know. I firmly believe this simpleton is convinced in the crap that he can comprehend that comes out of his piehole, and like a little kid, can't fathom upsetting the elders.
Thus, knowing Wilson had connections with the BushI clan...many on the diplomatic front like Scowcroft and Eagleberger have been completely shut out by the likes of the AEI and Neo-Cons, and if this is a shot over the White House bow that Poppy Bush isn't happy about what's going on.

Remember their new meme that everybody who disagrees with Bush or his policies is a "Bush-hater." If he mentioned Bush or connected the dots, he could simply be dismissed as another Bush-hater and be accused of launching a partisan attack.
Wilson is being VERY shrewd. Judging by the way he conducted himself, this story has legs.

Overall I was very impressed with Amb. Wilson and glad to have the chance to see him in a rather unfiltered setting.
Yes, he's very saavy on how he's presenting his story and that you can tell there's more he can say on the subject he's witholding for future use, if necessary.
I just want to be as objective of this story as I can be. All weekend there's been a frenzy here on DU and on many sites about how potent this story is...and I know that in a "fair" world, that heads will roll, but that's not the times we live in. Everyone, Wilson included, has an agenda and I always seek to find out what it is. Hopefully it's sincere as he presents and I have absolutely no reason to question at this point, but is this story way to complex ever to do any serious damage to this regime. Alas, I say no.
Wilson is definitely intrepid and I feel he has to be as visible as possible while this controversy swirls for his own safety. Obviously the first GOOP salvo to discredit him (another barometer for me on credibility) didn't work, now what will they come with?
You know Rove is not going down easy...and someone here brought out the wonderful vision of Rove having to battle subpoenas and legal troubles while trying to engineer Junior's next robbery. But if a Ken Lay or a Ollie North can walk away with major crimes, anyone implicated here has little to worry about.

27. Things like this help me not to get so discouraged |
|
Sometimes I get into the "all is lost" mode, or think that Bushco has it all wrapped up, but then I see things like this and realized that we do still live in a democracy and people can still speak out. It's slow, very slow, and cumbersome but the 'evildoers' seem to always get caught in the end. It might not be on our timetable, but eventually things seem to work out.
All these things.....it's a chip, chip, chipping away. We just have to keep it up and that is exactly what Wilson said too.

I'm always optimistic about the future and as a history buff I know that the truth will eventually come out about this regime and all the secret dealing that have gone on. Historians are sure to write of this "administration" as one of the worst and corrupt ever, but these crooks are slick...they learned lessons from their past mess-ups and are very ruthless in how they go about their arrogant obsession for power and greed. It's gonna take a real giant to stand up to this cabal as they will do what they will to shutdown anyone or anything that interferes with their selfish interests.
All is far from lost. I feel good that this regime is digging itself in so many holes it's going to be listing through the next year. There are too many messes here for this regime to withstand an election(at least the trappings of one) without having to answer some very tough questions.
Our job is to not let those who want to lull the electorate to sleep or shout down those who dissent suceede. This is the real chipping that needs to be done...so many out there are turned off on politics that matter and only pay attention to the "sexy" stuff.

It's too bad that often our children are the ones who get the true picture. I often think of Jimmy Carter when I think of how historians re-evaluate a Presidency.

30. I Think Things Move Faster |
|
Jimmy Carter got stuck with Nixon's post-Vietnam recession and did little while President to help his own cause, but many of us knew then and really appreciate now his conviction and genuine honesty. It's so refreshing now.
Also, I think the picture of Clinton is becoming clearer. The "legecy" thing is looking a lot better these days. I always chide my "Repugnican friends" with the Raygun mantra..."are you better off today than you were 3 years ago?"...if I get a "yes" for an answer, there's always a "but" attached. And the deeper messes this regime gets stuck in only will make Clinton look better.
