This shit is really starting to get out of hand...
Where is the "uniter" we heard so much about? How would it hurt him to sit down for 10-15 minutes with a mother that lost her son in his war of choice? Why is he so obstinate in face of such a request? Now they are threatening to arrest her? Get real! Who in the hell does he think he is? He works for the American people - he doesn't work for Karl Rove. He could resolve this if he wished.

2. Surprise!
He really doesn't care. That should not shock anyone. He cares only about himself and his oil/business buds.

This situation is putting Bush where he belongs - on the spot, and between a rock and a hard place. If he agrees to answer Cindy's questions, he'll look like a baffoon and will dig himself into a hole. If he doesn't meet with her, he looks evasive and uncaring towards our servicemen and their families. Ha!

21. Uh...
He has looked uncaring toward our servicemen and women and their families on multiple occasions for quite some time now. Think about it. Lack of armor on vehicles, bulletproof vests, cuts to schools on military bases, cuts to veteran benefits, charging them for hospital food after they've been injured, trying to cut their pay, to name just a few.

where the hell is the famous (or infamous) Bush Charm that so totally disarms anyone who meets with him personally? If there was such a thing as Bush Charm he would have absolutely no fear of meeting with Cindy. He could disarm her with the famous Bush Charm and turn a bad situation into a win.

In other words, the famous (infamous)Bush Charm is just more right wing bushit!

23. Well, they forgot to say that he is charming
if you're a billionaire. These jerks planned their war and Bush et al didn't realize that those 'toy soldiers' he thought he could play with, were actually people. They don't have big bank accounts, so they're not human to this crowd.

As far as these people are concerned, the troops are nothing more than chess pieces.

He's probably in shock that they turned out to be humans, and worse, their family members actually care about them and are demanding that he stop lying. No one ever told him that before.

His arrogance is beyond belief!! Cindy is making him face real people. I bet he's throwing temper tantrums inside that ranch. So much bad press, from one mother who loved her son!! This was something they didn't plan for. How could they? They're not human!!

52. yeah, I thought that was supposed to be his secret weapon!
Wasn't he supposed to go on all these "charm offensives" that would heal the country after the 2000 election, and completely win over those overseas leaders?

And didn't he say that he viewed it as his personal duty to hug all the bereaved families and comfort them?

I must confess that I was quite eager to see this in action. I'm not a particularly charming person, so I was hoping to pick up some tips. Here is a guy who isn't particularly handsome or accomplished, but he was supposed to be incredibly sweet and endearing. At first, when I saw the news footage of him being arrogant and peevish, I thought I was just the "librul media" out to get him. But then I realized that he ALWAYS comes across that way, regardless of who's reporting.

Because the "Bush Charm" only works if you really, really want it to. (I thought the true test is whether it works even if you don't believe in it.)

Personally, I find his "charm offensives" offensive.

Edited on Mon Aug-08-05 05:59 PM by HereSince1628
is intended to make impeachable the right of people to peacably assemble and to petition the government for redress of grievances.

Her son was killed in a war for which the reasons seem contrived at best. This is a legitimate grievance. She and her supporters must approach this peaceably, but I have no doubt that that is exactly her plan.

She is clearly farther away from "the compound" than any free speech zone in history.

If her appeal is considered illegal, then the Bush administration has denied her of her constitutional rights.

Should this happen, the time will have come in the course of events when the American people must dissolve the political bands that have connected them to their Executive and to assert for themselves the Power to remove tyrants from the government so that the rights of United States citizens shall not be lost from the earth.

59. Yep
When this first started, I said that I wished she had thought of this earlier because we could have planned a huge protest. I take that back because our planning would have given them time to figure out a response. With her deciding to do this last minute, she ambushed them. And never have a group of people been more deserving of such an ambush.

It's a beautiful thing. And she is an amazing woman. I know many people have compared her to Rosa Parks but to me, what she is doing reminds me of Ghandi.

31. the sit down with cindy sheehan might force him to have to look at himself
He does not want to do that...he prefers to live on the image that someone has created for him...possibly one that he has bought into and believes in his head to be the reality.

So, may Peter Jennings rest in Peace. I do not admire Peter Jennings. If he were alive and well he would be very much talking about anything else other than cindy sheehan and the bully dictator who is holding our country hostage.

but they say that dying is walking into the fountain of truth...and if that is the case and peter jennings has been illuminated by the genuine fountain of truth...perhaps he can intercede and cause some of his c-o-l-l-e-a-g-u-e-s who have elevated him to some sort of god like status, to start looking at the truth about bush and start reporting on it.

that would be soooooo koooooooool and sooooooo neeeeeeeat.

really is. Somewhere along the line he imagines he is a king. Someone forgot to remind him that he is a servant of the people not the other way around. But the man gained office in an illegitimate manner so he is not our President really, but a pretender.

When this is all over, I really think we should impeach those members of the Supreme Court who decided in a legal matter that they had no jurisdiction over to appoint this man our President although there were laws in place to decide the Florida election that they treasonously ignored. They should be made an example of so it never happens again, even with any new members the Bush may appoint.

Cindy Sheehan is as sweet and pure a character as the little boy who finally yelled out, "But the Emperor has no clothes!" No one can really impugn her motivations or honesty so the situation is a no win for the "King". He's a vain and arrogant fraud and there is no way for him to make himself look good in the face of her accusations! It is positively delicious to the many of us who have been waiting so long!
