3. Yes.
After you watch Dick Gregory spank Sean Hannity ..... on the thread on Nixon, I was asked that several times. The classic Woodward & bernstein books; the transcripts of the tapes (Washington Post edition); Emery's book; all the books by Nixon, Haldeman, Dean, and even McCord's.

Now watch Dick Gregory on Fox!

4. Dick wrote some of the first radical literature I read
Well, in my family NIGGER! was pretty controversial - I was 8 when I found a copy and didn't understand most of it, I admit. I had just read Black Like Me and being a boy from small town Iowa was trying to wrap my mind around what he and others were writing about.

I loved his wit in his writing and in his act; I've gone back and listened to some of his old comedy stuff - he is genius.

11. Now that's interesting
because I am from a small town in Iowa as well, but my parents were, and are, progressives. They encouraged us to read such works as N***** and then discuss it if we had any questions. Maybe I was just fortunate to have such parents. A lot of small town Iowans I grew up with didn't have such an upbringing. In fact, I'd say most small town Iowans didn't. I will say however, that if we said the "N" word, we were in all kinds of trouble. You see, it just ain't right.Although Gregory did explain it well in his intro. "When someone says it, they are selling my book", or words to that effect.

14. lol
mine were very conservative - and us in a union town (Dad was whitecollar). My dad was and is remains a racist, sad but true, though he really liked Gregory when he did comedy - before 'Bus came out.
You had great parents. :toast:

13. He even took on the unhealthy diet of African Americans, remember?
Something that foreshadowed activism on improving the diet of all americans and an area I wish Native Americans would better wake up to. He truly has been prophetic in many ways.

9. Sure!
Sean would give a quote from Dick, ask him if he really said it, then ask the white republican guest if Dick really said it. As if Dick were going to lie.

Dick said that the black vote was not counted in the Bush elections; that Bush stole the election; and that the US government is the most dishonest on earth. He also noted the government is immoral.

7. Is it possible to post the conversation on DU
I haven't watched FAUX NEWS since January (sticking to my new year pledge with ease)

You can insert Fwads name with the most derogatory thing you can think of.
