Discovery has completed a deorbit burn and started descending
Edited on Tue Aug-09-05 06:40 AM by Tesla
BREAKING NEWS

Discovery has completed a deorbit burn and started descending into Earth's atmosphere for landing. Details soon.

http://www.cnn.com/

The Discovery crew has been given a "go" for a de-orbit burn, an engine firing that will begin the shuttle's descent to Earth. Because of bad weather in Florida, Discovery will land at Edwards Air Force Base in California at 8:12 a.m. ET. Discovery's path to Edwards will begin when the crew fires the shuttle's breaking engines at 7:06 a.m. to slow it enough to re-enter Earth's atmosphere over the Pacific.

3. Who gives a FF? When was the last time that the shuttle
was even considered news?

It's a coordinated distraction.

5. I think most people are concerned that they get down OK
The Shuttle program is in a heap of trouble and I wouldn't be on that piece of crap for a million bucks.
That's why it's news.

6. OK.
Here's hoping a pile of rubble doesn't land in your back yard. Would you consider it news then?

7. Then it's working
We love the shuttle program and will watch events like this on NASA TV or online instead of the crap the media shovels any day of the week.

9. The space program is not a distraction
what a completely backward thing to say. :eyes:

The space program is among the very best things Americans do. Yes, the shuttle is outdated and needs replacing. That doesn't mean we shouldn't be concerned for the present astronauts.
