Finding public property in Crawford Texas

Assuming this triangle they've been thrown off of really is private property, someone should obtain a Tax Assessment Map from the town of Crawford, which should identify all parcels of land in the town by number (usually lot and block number). Then pick some lots that look like likely public property and ask the Tax Assessor who owns it.

It's as simple as that. Then it would be the town of Crawford (or the county or state if they own the land), a governmental authority, that would have to threaten to arrest people for trespassing and not a private landowner.

I assume there are lawyers on the scene down there doing just that.

3. You need the recorded property deeds and plats along with the tax maps
I keep hearing and reading about references to 'easements' along the 'road' to Dimson's 'ranch' property. It may be that there is NO public road frontage in front of *'s property. Many large rural tracts of land have private road, private driveway or private ingress/egress easement (i.e. through other property) access off of existing public rights-of-way.

They need a surveyor or a real estate attorney to assist them if there if no one in the group who has experience doing deed room research. The county Public Works and Transportation Department will have records of all public rights-of-way and private roads in the county.

I do this kind of research for my work. Unfortunately, I'm back east. Good luck.

4. the "road right of way" is usually county property
Around here, the county is deeded the property along all roadways that they maintain. Something like 30 feet beyond the road edge is usually ROW property.
