Lose the black felt hat.

Get a natural straw hat that breathes or your head will explode.

If you want western footwear, get "ropers" (AKA lacers). More comfortable, better for walking and equally cowboy.

Long-sleeved, light coloured shirt.

There are good reasons cowboys dress the way they do.

With respect to the pricky sticky stuff...I'd advise leather shoes. Opuntia and sand burrs play hell with sneakers.

that will keep your head cool with ventilation. Either that or a stetson or Panama hat that is lossely woven.

I'm concerned the heat will kill you in that black hat, especially if there is no venting and if it is a heavy material.
