Before he does any more bragging about Iraq now being a democracy, little Georgie had better do some fact checking on the state of the Iraq Constitution...I heard today, on one of our TV networks, (I can't remember which one), that one of the things holding up the constitution is the fact that they are debating whether it should provide for men having the authority to beat their wives!...I found this reference to it in the C. S. Monitor.

"Some interpretations allow for men to beat their wives, give men more inheritance rights than women, and consider a woman's testimony to be worth less than a man's when it comes to legal disputes."

3. They don't seem to mean it there, either.
The Muslim Fundies will control Iraq, the Christian Fundies will control the US.

Happy happy joy joy.....

2. From Iraq the Model...
Section Two
Basic rights and public freedoms

1-All Iraqis are equal before the law regardless of gender, race, color, opinion, religion, sect or belief and discrimination based on these differences is prohibited.

6-The state protects the basic rights of women including equality with men in accordance to the Islamic share'at and the state helps the women in creating balance between their duties within their families and their duties within the community.
