There was some questioning about this idiots credentials earlier -- and I thought I'd do some research. This comes from a biography posted by Fuckus on the Family.
End result is that he is a licensed psychologist (Ph.D.), although I don't know if he is still current.
www.family.org/docstudy/aboutdrdobson.cfm James C. Dobson, Ph.D., is founder and chairman of Focus on the Family, a non-profit organization that produces his internationally syndicated radio programs. Worldwide, Focus on the Family broadcasts on nearly 3,500 radio facilities in the U.S. and more than 5,000 internationally in 163 countries.
Dr. Dobson's commentaries are heard by more than 200 million people by way of radio every day, including a program translation carried on state-owned radio stations in the Republic of China. He is seen on 80 television stations daily in the U.S.
Dobson was for 14 years an Associate Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Southern California School of Medicine, and served for 17 years on the Attending Staff of Children's Hospital of Los Angeles in the Division of Child Development and Medical Genetics. He has an earned Ph.D. from the University of Southern California (1967) in the field of child development. He is a licensed psychologist in the state of California, a licensed marriage, family and child counselor in both California and Colorado, and is listed in Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare.

(I've always wanted one, so some might say this is sour grapes. So be it.)
I work on the Wizard of Oz theory: "We can't give you a brain, but we can give you a diploma." It's called over-achieving.

Some of my heros are people with doctorates. On the other hand, I teach computer classes, and some of the most clueless students I've had have called themselves doctor.
And I'm not talking about people who have not mastered the Bezier tool, (it is challenging) I'm talking about people who, being shown how to drag an icon, immediately ask, "What do I have to know this for?"

5. I haven't a clue what his undergrad degree was |
|
but it would still be prefectly appropriate to refer to him as "James Dobson, B.S." :-)

...and I just don't know how a physician with that kind of education and experience can talk the crazy shit that James Dobson talks. He is insane.

He's a psychologist.
I assume his website is not lying about the fact he recieved his degree from USC, and hold (or held) a California License to practice Psychology. A Ph.D. in Human Development is eligible in almost all states for the higest level license for psychologists. Generally, HD degrees are considered (professionally) as a Ph.D. in Child Psychology (which isn't offered in most places).
I know of at least two John's Hopkin's trained psychologists whose Ph.D. is in Human Development.
All of the above being said. He still is one hell of a loon. But unlike Dr. Laura, he's for real :(.

Some of us actually use our Ph.D. powers for the force of good, not evil.
