McLennan County (Crawford, TX) Property Tax Records
https://actweb.acttax.com/act_webdev/mclennan/index.jsp

If anyone has an address for the "triangle", you could look up the owner here. Haven't found a site showing property lines yet, though.

10. Thanks, I get a few hits on "Morgan" and "Prairie Chapel"
but I can't really make sense of it. I pm'ed it to Anarchy1999, as another poster suggested.

Still looking for a site that shows property boundaries like we have here in my county.

Edited on Thu Aug-11-05 01:40 AM by txindy
According to USA Today, that's where the fundraiser is located on Friday. Is that right where the group is camping?

Oh, my. They CAN'T ignore Cindy, now!

8. Does the county site have a GIS map?
It's usually found in the county appraiser or property tax records area. That's where you will find the lot layouts.

12. Not what you're looking for, but
It's 3,387 sq feet, at least 3 bedrooms, 8 rooms total, and a swimming pool.

Check out the ridiculous price assessment (ca 2004) on the house:

Someone done Dubya a real big favor.

19. 1065 Morgan Rd??
I think the triangle could be at 1065 Morgan Rd. Google maps shows the short sides around 200 ft or so each, which would make the triangle about 1 acre.

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=1065+morgan+rd,+crawford,+tx&spn=0.004421,0.007155&t=h&hl=en

(You have to close the text bubble to see the triangle at max zoom, also google stickpins aren't always in the right place. Mapquest shows 1065 Morgan at the bottom corner of the triangle.)

Tax records do indicate a 1 acre property at 1065 Morgan Rd. I couldn't find an address on Prairie Chapel that landed at the triangle, but not all the properties on Prairie Chapel have addresses.

23. That's not an acre...the triangle isn't.
I believe it's going to be public right of way, but if it is someone's property, it would more likely belong to the address on Prairie Chapel road to the north and east of the triangle.

24. My bad
Oops, bad math. You're right, it would be more like half an acre. Dang. Sorry everybody. I think there were a few sub-acre properties on Morgan and Prairie Chapel.

25. What I'm thinking is that the triangle is county right of way.
It would be necessary to preserve the property for sight-flare purposes. In other words, the county owns it, and maintains it, so that drivers at the roadway intersections have good vision of oncoming traffic.

If indeed it is right of way, a visit to the county courthouse could resolve the question in less than 10 minutes. If I were there tomorrow, I would certainly find out.

Perhaps someone at Camp Casey or at the Peace House should inquire. When people start showing up in droves this weekend, more space will be needed, and that triangle is the perfect place.

26. That would make sense; if so, can't camp there either, would block vision?
Edited on Thu Aug-11-05 03:07 AM by satya
How about campgrounds around there? There were a few listed in Waco. Also one RV park in Crawford, Towkaw Falls RV Park, but that may be obsolete, couldn't find any more info.

Edit to fix name of RV park and add link:

31. i'm thinking nobody at the courthouse has a clue about the triangle....
Records and legaleze are really sloppy on old county roads in Texas.

Would be willing to bet that nobody has even done a survey of the property in the last 50 years.

Looking at the aerials, it looks like one of them roads that evolved over time.

If the county has maintained it for 20 years, they can claim it.

A lot of these county road disputes end up in district court. The county would argue to the fence line.

A good way to locate a tract of property in Texas is to identify the survey and go from there.

Go the the McLennan County CCAD and type in Lone Star Trust in the owners search field and that will give a good bearing on Rancho de Chimpy.
