Poll question: Will Bush meet with Cindy? |
|
Edited on Thu Aug-11-05 10:23 AM by wtmusic
Interesting that such a simple humanitarian act comes so hard for that petulant little moron.
onedit: I believe he will. It will be behind closed doors. She has already announced what she's going to ask; Rove is busy writing the answers. She'll probably have to be dragged out screaming but no cameras will be around to record it.

4. He will manufacture a "crisis" |
|
Requiring him to hop on a helo at the ranch and chopchopchop away to the airport in the dead of night. Downside for him: he will have to cut his vacation at his horseless ranch short!!!

This one he cannot win. No matter what happens, he lost it already when he let more than 1 day go by without meeting with Cindy. Let's make him lose it big time - and keep the pressure on.

11. No, because he doesn't have to. |
|
He isn't running for anything (and he's been running from things his whole life, so he's used to that); as he has recently stated, "Being President is power!" - in his mind he is simply too powerful to be affected by any lowly woman; he is more concerned to appear strong to his loony base, not rational adults, so not talking to Ms Sheehan, to him and his ilk, is a show of strength. There is simply nothing "in it" for him, so, no he won't talk to her...

in Bushworld, NOT talking to Cindy is a show of strength. Nice way to summarize it Dalgren. The longer he holds out the more support rec'd from his loyalists. He absolutely thinks he CAN win in this. Just another little challenge to roll over. Giving Cindy an inch would be a losing gesture where he comes from.

The issue is and MUST BE whether he's held accountable to the American People - including families of those killed in a criminal war of aggression.
Please, DO NOT let this hang on some empty photo op - that's far too easily flipped by the Rovian Reptiles.
It's about the accountability! (Keep your eyes on the ball, folks.)

this is not some 'empty photo op'. This is what it all comes down to--people standing up for what's right, and it's gained international attention.

16. No wonder the left loses. |
|
:eyes:
So, Chimpy rides out with Rove, faces the Camp Casey folk, and mouths a few platitudes about "I feel your pain" and "we all grieve for your loss" and other canned Chatty Cathy snippets and then rides off into the sunset.
At that point, the Mighty Wurlitzer takes over and the status quo is maintained.
It's not about a charade of a photo op ... it's about answering to Cindy's questions - accountability.

because #1 that would give her points validity. He can't afford to do that, with the approval so low for the war. Also Prince Georgie is incapable of giving anything -to anyone- who is not a supporter. He does not DO diplomacy. Any capturing of a meeting between them on film would make him feel that he has lowered himself. It is beneath him to come to her. That's why this is so brilliant--she is showing him up as a rigid, arrogant narcissist, hopelessly out of touch with the commoners. The only thing he's worried about in this thing is the political fallout from it. This kind of personality can actually get energy from being beseiged, enjoying the attention and indulging in a little martyrdom ("ah, what we must endure in our noble quest"...insert quote from King Lear here)
Meeting with Cindy I doubt has ever even come up as a serious option, more likely the fodder for jokes (let's look under the desk for WMD....). They've already got a nickname probably "Unhappy Campers" or something--that is how George and Co marginalize threats. I don't even think he could pull off a meeting as a PR stunt, eg. The Boy Scouts. People travelling with the Prince and his entourage will be advising him that if you just ignore the riff raff, eventually they'll go away... His mind is on schmoozing at the BBQ and the other issues on his plate. There's going to be no time in his schedule for Cindy. Busy.

and I wonder what she'll say ...
They will be alone (i.e. not in front of the cameras) so whatever it is will be private between them.
Will she tell him he killed her son and listen to him defend himself? What will she do if he turns mean?
Is she the kind of person who can be intimidated? It's not easy to meet someone "famous" like Bush and hold your ground.
Will she just cry?
Will it be an emotonal letdown - will she or won't she get what she wants? Does she know what she wants? She can't get her baby back no matter what ...
I don't mean to anger anyone - I'm just thinking aloud.

I'd be surprised if Cindy would do it otherwise. How could she trust him not to belittle her, as bullies do when they get their targets away from witnesses. Cindy wouldn't be suckered into that.
Asking for no cameras would make him seem like he was up to no good.

32. Or Bush might say --as O' Lielly said |

"There is no greater calling than to lay down your life for another." O'Lielly attributed this concept to the Christian tradition.

Lay down his life for another, that is. ;) And if others in his administration would follow suit, even better.
