19. It would be quicker if he walked in front of a microwave
my father had "a box"-internal defib, and you do not want them near one

Plus, never mind him being Cheney, his heart problem alone should disqualify him

4. Even if it's likely he'll run...
What's the chances he'll make it past the primary?

Besides which, I don't believe for a second he's running. He knows damn right well he's got an image problems that's almost impossible to overcome.

11. The scary part is
That the only way he will run is if the fix is 100% in.
There isn't ANY way he would ever win an election legitimately.
This is just an "in your face" move to show everyone that they can do what they want.

15. If he throws his hat in the ring,. he WILL be the nominee
this is the best news we could ever have had for 2008.

Cheney's approval ratings are slightly lower than OBL's last I checked.

16. if cheney runs, we know they are confident in stealing the election
and my view, to have such confidence is three years, 2000, 2002, and 2004 was so successful

17. Will they put him up because...
he will be the "excuse" by the repigs to explain the Democratic sweep that will occur in 2006 and 2008, as opposed to the fact that they ran the country into the ground, or will it be because diebold machines will be used everywhere, guaranteeing even that lizard's victory?

21. Bob Woodward is wrong.
There's no way in hell Dick Cheney could win a presidential election. What are his approval numbers anyway? Twenty-something? People hate that guy.

23. It isn't about "winning,"
Edited on Thu Aug-11-05 11:53 AM by EST
The game just isn't played that way, anymore. They can't, at this point, ever, ever lose the reins of power again. If the Dems should somehow get back into control, the Fed Med will be loaded, and they know it, and if any pardons should issue from the incoming Dem electee, we'd have them impeached so fast.

Kind of like the cong did- they kept knocking off the village elders 'til there was someone who'd run it right.

Of course, in the interim between election day and inauguration, anything can happen...will happen.

Don't mind me, too much negative reality in my world, today.

24. punpirate: "Highly likely"...
... Woodward is an administration shill.

Cheney has had some fairly consistent polls over the past four years--about 18-25% of the people consider him honest. About 20% of the people trust his judgment.

That doesn't sound as if it's a strong basis on which to run for anything.

Besides, from what I hear from medical people, his heart isn't going to last much longer. The hardware that's installed in him indicates that his heart is pretty well worn out.
