4. Just watched CNN
which opened with a "joint" story of *'s press conference and Cindy Sheehan. I didn't have a stop watch, but it was my impression that they spent more time with Cindy than Fucktard. They included rebuttal to the FR spin that Cindy had a good time with Georgie Peorgie last year by saying that at that time she did not have the questions to ask that she now does.

Report in Minneapolis on CBS affiliate WCCO.
about 1 minute featuring clips of Sheehan (IRAQ is not a noble cause) and a scan of the crosses and the camp!

Not the first story, but I believe it was the 2nd, preceeded only by the weather.

Ok I'm more addled than I thought.
They basicly did a bio and showed pics of her in the camp; talking to reporters; laying flowers at the cross with Casey's name; just a couple of actual clips with her saying something. First one I believe was "I want to know why Pre. Bush killed my son". Not too much negative except a clip of Pat Bucannan saying something about it being detrimental to her the longer she was out there. Just basically said that she had met the prez before but she wanted a personal audience and some answers;and that her position was that she wanted the troops pulled out. Also ran the clip of Bush from today saying that she had a right to her "position". I think that was it.

Ok edit: they did mention that she was a registered Dem and a self-proclamed Peace Activist. Don't know why that was relevant.......

11. The National Commercial Broadcasts
Edited on Thu Aug-11-05 05:22 PM by bvar22
are the ones that are important. MOST of America still gets their news from CBS, NBC, and ABC.

I'm not surprised that the CBS local affiliate highlighted Cindy.
The Minneapolis/St Paul is a hotbed of Blue!

The National Broadcasts start at 5:30 Central.

22. It was a little disappointing, actually.
Led off with report on Cindy's actions in Crawford and continued with * speaking from the ranch about how the mission needed to be finished. blah, blah, blah. Condasleezy and rumliar were behind him.

The next segment was about soldiers in Ohio getting ready to go to Iraq. One mom was adamently against it, but there was a dad, Paul Montgomery whose son Lance was KIA and he said he died doing what he wanted to do.

He wanted to kill innocent people? Good God.

a few seconds about "That woman". Abc and NBC's coverage was longer. Nbc's was okay except they give the chimp's whole stupid statement today and nothing from Cindy's press conference. Regardless of the piss poor reporting it was great to have her on all three networks tonight.

:woohoo:

20. NBC Nightly News
Short video shots of crosses, crowd, and Cindy with bush the lesser speaking at intro. After that about 1-2min segment dedicated to Cindy that was slightly biased toward dimson but not including any smear or he said-said.

23. San Francisco/Sonoma County Update
Cindy was the lead story on the local news at 6 tonight on both KGO-ABC7 San Francisco and KNTV NBC5 in San Jose, and the lead national story on KFTY-50 Santa Rosa. KGO gave her about 5 minutes, followed by political analysis of why * says he won't speak with her (nobody could explain that).

In print, she got the front page above the fold with large color photos both in the San Francisco Chronicle and the Santa Rosa Press Democrat, although the PD simply reprinted text from the LA Times story that ran this morning.

In the Chron, she got almost the entire jump page (A15, I think), which also contained B/W photos of her in tears talking about her son. The Chron also ran a political analysis piece on how Cindy has whipsawed * into a no-win situation: talk with her and he legitimizes her movement and hands her more front-page coverage, don't talk with her and the protest could grow rapidly and exponentially.

Because Cindy lives in Vacaville, halfway between San Francisco and Sacramento, I'd also expect lots of coverage in that market as well, but we can't receive Sacramento stations here.

We'll monitor late local news tonight starting with KTVU in Oakland in about 15 minutes.
