6. She is witness to serious crime yet refuses to testify- contempt of court
She is in jail because Prosecutor Fitzgerald is convinced Cheney's chief of staff Lewis Libby committed a crime that she witnessed and is covering for by refusing to testify. Not a very noble act on her part. Especially since all the other journalists have testified.

7. That's right.
She needs to be charged with criminal contempt, and put in prison.

12. Sure.
I assume he is letting the pressure build. The lawyers she has know that it is likely she will be charged. She has no defense. None. Zero. And so, under the circumstances, they have no doubt told her she is temptng fate.

So Judith sits in a jail cell, complains about being bored, and gets to consider going to prison. A few months of jail is unpleasant. A few years in prison is life-altering.

Fitzgerald appears to want her to think.

10. Exactly. She's not protecting a source. She is sheltering a criminal.

the source she is protecting is herself. I think she was the one who told Libby.
