Bush could have avoided lots of trouble & bad p.r...
...if he had just gone out there like a man and talked to Cindy Sheehan for a little while. She could raise her points, maybe demand an apology or further explanation, press him on his lies, but his staff could prep him on a bunch of sidesteps. He could do a photo op and then excuse himself to go take a made-up phone call from Putin or something.
Laura could have gone with him. They could have invited her in for coffee, though she'd probably tell them to shove it.
now the vigil/encampment is international news that has got *'s feet in the furnace.
.....Course, we know what kind of advice he gets from his staff. "They'll welcome us as liberators!"....or better yet, "there won't be any casualties."

dumbfuck

2. Only if he did that within hours
now when they threatened arrest there were no international news crews, now there are... hence why no arrest....

And this has become the lightning rod that we all needed

3. Did they doubt that she would get press?
Have they not realized that the people are speaking? At this point, no matter what he does, he looks like an ass. He looks like an ass for not talking to her now. If he talks to her (yeah, right!) he'll look like an ass for taking so long to do so. Also, Cindy would be candid about the meeting, as she has about the first. He won't come out of this looking good no matter what he does.

Of course, there's more than bad P.R. going on here. More people are gaining the courage to speak up, and that's very bad for the Pretzeldent.

4. Bush doesn't understand hardship or loss
He thinks those things only belong to others because that is their destiny. Bush is one real creep.

7. He blew it big time when he
sent the toadies out there in his place on Day 1, figuring that would satisfy her and she'd just go away. Obviously he and Rove badly misjudged the situation. They just didn't "get" that a determined mother who'd lost her son and is living out a nightmare isn't going to be so easily deterred.

You're right. All the asshole needed to do was to invite her in, hear her out, and send her on her way before the story had a chance to catch fire. Now the flames are out of control and the dumbass is between a rock and a hard place - refuse to meet with her and look like a cold-hearted but chickenshit bastard or reluctantly meet with her and have everyone wondering what the hell took so long.

Either way he ends up looking like an idiot.

8. He's damned if he does damned if he doesn't.
He's damned either way, so he just will sit aside. He is afraid of being attacked by Israel as soon as the troops are pulled out, like he should be, for making a deal with the devil.

12. too late now
If he went out when Cindy first arrived the story would have had quick back page coverage and then disappear

but now - it's developed into a "David and Goliath" story.

ONE WOMAN - armed only with a question - is facing him down. and where is he - hiding behind umpteen secret service agents, hunkered down behind his desk looking for a hidey hole

bush*'s options have run out -- if he stays in his hidey hole it shows he has no compassion for the grief of ONE WOMAN

if he emerges from his hidey hole - he'll go down like Goliath

arrest her? - and he'll turn her into even more of a symbol

13. Gone out there "like a man"? What are you saying?
What does President Cretin ever do that is "like a man"?

I knew he was a coward on 9/11, as he skittered all over the country waiting for his pants to dry. Some leader.
