Accusations of Tin-Foil Hat

Which of the following two is more common - posts that condemn an idea as being of tin-foil hat calibar or posts that defensively say the idea they are suggesting isn't tinfoil hat material (or say it may be, but they are just "asking the question)?

2. It implies that the argument you are making is irrational

Tin Foil Hats keep out the Mind COntrolling Sattellites rays (or something like that). So if some one suggests that President Bush purposfully allowed terrorists to crash into the Twin Tours and you disagreed with that analysis, you might suggest the poster was a tin foil hatter or it was a tin-foil hat analysis.
