Police: Girl Shot With Taser After Taunting Deputy With Butcher Knife |
|
http://www.local6.com/news/4841918/detail.htmlmy hat is off to the police, they showed good judgment. because I would have shot her ass. well I wouldn't have tried to kill her, but she's stupid and maybe a bullet in the ass would get her attention.

even the news station gets that all of this is still "alleged." i'm not a fan of tasering children, so i'll wait for more information.

11. Yes, the innocent bystanders and the boyfriend, not to mention... |
|
the police officers. Certainly an incident that justifies using a taser.

16. that's true...of course all of this is still "alleged" |

so, unless you are ms. cleo, in addition to a tireless supporter of police action, regardless of the circumstances, you have no idea of what actually happened. isn't it puzzling that on this site where people constantly rail against the inaccuracy of the media...some stories are simply swallowed whole. an always fascinating phenonmenon.

Truth... but I know some 14 year old girls who could cut you up good. I never want to see anyone tasered, but if she is threatening a knife, I most likely would have done the same thing.
I am not a fan of alot of police action, but this seems justified at the moment.

2. That is justified use of a taser. |
|
One of the few cases in which I support it is when the other person is carrying a weapon.
A butcher knife is a very dangerous weapon.

As much as I hate Bernie's Buzzer, there's not much else you can do when confronted with a butcher's knife.

In fact, I was watching a COPS episode the other night in which a dozen police officers were were trying to get a man to give up his knife. Kind of looked like he might use it on himself before he gave it up. Apparently these cops didn't have tasers because they ended up shooting him.
I kept wondering why they didn't use a taser. It was the perfect situation for one and they didn't have it.

I frequently rail against the (inappropriate) use of tasers ... if "things" happened as portrayed ... I can't argue with it's use in this case.

5. I don't have a problem with her getting tazered. |
|
She obviously had to be.
My problem with this is why she had to be tazered 'several times'. We know that prolonged usage increases the chance of death.

7. You taunt with words; with a butcher knife you threaten lethal harm. |

Sounds like this teenager is messed up mentally - whether through drugs she currently takes, or as a birth defect.

10. Seems to be a justified use of the TASER this time |
|
I have no objection where it is used in place of having to shoot a suspect. My objection is where it is used "just because we can".

12. Nice to see that there are some police who use discretion |
|
And know when to stun somebody, and when not to. Good for them! Let's hope the rest of this country's police officers are paying attention.

14. What's the saying? "Tasers don't kill people" |
|
"Bad or poorly trained cops with tasers kill people."
This was none of those things. It looks completely justified, everyone exercised discretion and restraint, nobody died. No way would I "engage" (grab hold of?) someone with a butcher knife. That's a good way to get all your red runny stuff let out.
