Vote for $87B scheduled for Friday
Facing a Firestorm of Opposition, Senate Schedules Quick Action on Iraq Quagmire Vote

Last week, we asked TrueMajority members to urge Congress not to write
another $87 billion blank check for the deepening quagmire in Iraq without requiring the president to first internationalize the rebuilding of Iraq and turn the government there over to the Iraqi people.

In addition to the 70,000 TrueMajority members who faxed their
Congresspeople, our sister organizations MoveOn and Working Assets
mobilized their members to do the same. That flood of citizen communications hitting Congress matches the polls that show the American people oppose another $87 billion for Bush's quagmire.

So the Senate Republican leadership just announced an abrupt end to hearings over America's policy in Iraq and a speedy vote on the $87 billion to limit the people's ability to weigh in. The vote is now scheduled for Friday, October 3.

IF YOU HAVEN'T TAKEN THIS ACTION, please do so right away.

1. Make sure that each Repukkks are removed
in 2004 if they voted FOR the blank check and it passes. This will bite back at them -- VERY largely.

2. Kerry, Lieberman, Edwards, Graham, Gebhart will be doomed if they vote yes
Democratic primary voters won't put up with that crap. It's one thing to go along to get along when Shrub is at 75% in the polls, but when he's at 50% and a majority, even in the Fox News poll say they oppose the appropriation, voting with Shrub is just inexcusable.

3. ....
No, they won't. A lot of people (including less far-left Dems like myself) realize the importance of the money to support the troops and rebuild Iraq. Like the men said, the problem is that this can't go side by side with the tax cuts for the wealthy.

4. Do you know where that $87B is going?
Have you listened to the hearings? Do you realized jack shit would go to the troops? Why do you support giving even more money to Halliburton, Bechtel and bribes?
