WHY are Religious Pro-Lifers Ok with using Fertility Drugs? |
|
my sister is a RW fundie for example. Southern Baptist wacko.
she took fertility drugs to get pregnant. WHY?
wasn't it "God's WILL" that she NOT be able to conceive?
this has always irked me.
i asked her about it once. she hung up on me

2. That's the burning question. |
|
And I wonder how that will play out if they actually get an embryo defined as a human being AND a citizen? Will infertile couples have to agree to carry to term every viable embryo created through IVF? Or will they outlaw this sort of infertility treatment completely?
Or will they carry on as usual as hypocrites?

3. This has always bothered me too |
|
Remember a few years back when a woman gave birth to multiple babies (I believe it was 7), all conceived through fertility drugs, but they wouldn't selectively abort any of them to give the others better chances at surviving because it was "against god's will". Whatever! If they really believe that then it was against gods will that they got pregnant in the first place. :eyes:

11. And, why don't they adopt instead of having kids? |
|
Edited on Fri Aug-12-05 03:42 PM by friesianrider
I mean, those kids mothers "chose life" - I guess if they sit in an orphanage for the rest of their lives never knowing a family, well, that's okay.
IMHO, unless you've adopted at least one kid, you have no friggin' business demanding all these kids be born.

33. Repukes only want to adopt white infants |
|
Even if the babies are from Ireland, where it's illegal for non-Irish citizens or residents to adopt, Judge Roberts.
On a more serious note: too much red tape: birth parents changing their minds at the last minute, grandparental interference, birth dads popping out at the last minute to block an adoption, etc. It makes my blood boil that birth fathers who are convicted rapists even have parental rights!
If the Repunks are really anything like the pro-life "Casey Dems", they'd do more on a national level to reduce or eliminate the unnecessary barriers to domestic adoption.

It talks about the new mega churches and how they basically reinforce people's selfishness by convincing them it's all part of God's plan.

Edited on Fri Aug-12-05 04:23 PM by enki23
they increase the probability of successful implantation. if every woman of childbearing age were required to be on them we'd save more baby souls than outlawing abortion ever could. as with terri shiaivo, every life needs every chance we can give it.
if it's really about saving the babies, and they are babies from the moment of conception, then there can be no argument here. the rights of the mother, regarding forced medication, are not significant when considering the value of each precious human soul. failed implantation kills millions upon millions of babies every year. every life must be protected to the fullest extent we can, especially... ESPECIALLY innocents such as these.

25. This has always irked me & my husband too. |
|
It's a fundamental hypocrisy to pick and choose medical procedures that are okay while saying others aren't okay (God wanted Terri Schiavo to die, why were they defying God?). But, these folks live with such huge amounts of cognitive dissonance constantly that this is really small-scale for them. I mean, the Bible is the literal word of God no matter how contradictory it is -- if they actually thought about anything their heads would explode.
The other thing that irks us both is that they are not Pro-Lifers. They are simply Pro-Birth. The only life that seems to matter is that of the child from conception to birth because they sure don't care about it after it's born. An example: My brother spouts how wrong abortion is, but when you want him to support policies to help lift women and children out of poverty, he's all of a sudden "not his brother's keeper". WTF? So, we don't talk. Bottom line: hypocrisy and cognitive dissonance will keep any of them from actually thinking.

I'm not too thrilled about them either. Too much risk of multiple sickly births, and there are plenty of "unadoptable" needy children out there desperately hoping for a good home. If you can't figure out how to have kids and want them, you should adopt.

32. Fertility drugs (over)stimulate ovulation |
|
but allow couples to conceive by having sex. They simply provide a "booster shot" to increase the chances of a couple conceiving naturally.
Fertility drugs are not the same as in vitro fertilization, where the kids are conceived in a petri dish and the fertilized egg is implanted in the mom.
