I just unsubscribed from Dean's mailing list
I'm really getting turned off by the constant pleas for money. Today alone I got three emails (from Martin Sheen and Rob Reiner) pleading for money. Enough!

1. sorry to hear
but I am subscribed to the Kucinich campaign and have a funny story to tell. We got a letter from Jeff Cohen, Dennis's spokesman and it said the beatles were wrong and it was asking for money. Well then Jeff writes us back no I was wrong, all you do need is love. I got a good chuckle out of it.

4. hi LC
:hi: pretty funny huh I got a good chuckle.
"All You Need is Love" is a great sentiment and we thank John Lennon and
the Beatles for it. But in election campaigns, love is not
all you need. You need money too. In fact the Kucinich for President
campaign is rapidly gaining in love, in volunteers, in staff, in house
parties and in endorsements (read on for all the good news), but what we
need most right now is money. That's because the fundraising filing
deadline for this quarter is Sept 30."
I've been savagely condemned for saying last week that the Beatles
were wrong when they claimed "All you need is love."

"I was off-base, and I apologize on behalf of the whole Kucinich
campaign. The Beatles were indeed right. John Lennon was right on
"Give Peace a Chance." He was right on "Imagine" -- our campaign's
theme song. And the Beatles were especially right when they sang
"Your lovin' gives me a thrill, but your lovin' don't pay my bills,
NOW GIVE ME MONEY."
lol. I got a good laugh. Theres so many reasons to support this man, your canidate meet John Lennon and my candiate loves Imagine, by chance LC what is Kerry's favorite song, I know DK likes Polka too, Kerry I envision he likes simliar music to my dad.

3. You might want to sign back up Wednesday.
The campaign promises not to spam, except for the last 2-3 weeks of the quarter.

5. Gee . . . .
You know they HAVE to ask for money, otherwise they will not be able to campaign. It is so important for us to put as much money as we can into the politician we want to become president.

I hope you'll reconsider and get back into the swing. Dean's a great candidate.

10. That's ALL I ever get from
the Democrats, I get letters from Carvelle, Nancy Pelosi etc. they want money, money, money. I am already allowing them to take out money ever month from my account but that is never enough. I get so sick and tired of it, E-Mails and Snail mail wanting money. Actually I am way passed sick of it, I am just plain out and out mad and have taken to discarding all of it without looking at it. If they don't stop it I am going to quit giving them anything thing at all. I know they need money but maybe they should use the money they have to help put some Democrat into office instead of using the money to send out letters asking for more. :wtf: :argh:  :grr: :nuke:

14. I got one too (for Kucinich)
Edited on Mon Sep-29-03 05:54 PM by RatTerrier
And the only campaign that has any of my email addresses is Clark's.

And that's my Hotmail box.

I got one to my main email. And the only outside commercial sources that have that one is a fantasy football site (Fanball) and DU.

Hmm... is DU selling our email addresses?

If so, I wish they wouldn't. I heavily regulate what goes into my main box, and DU won't let me specify a web-based email account (used by me as "spam collectors")

Say it ain't so!

On edit: I looked through the email, and it is from Democrats.com, hyping Kucinich. Sorry!

16. WTF?
Democrats.com hyping Kucinich? What next, Shrub decides to apologize to the American public for misleading them about the so-called "War on Terror"?

I'd be really curious to see that one. I find it hard to believe that the DLC-controlled DNC would really give a rat's rectum about somebody like Dennis.

20. Democrats.com isn't affiliated with the DNC or the DLC
It's independent, intended for Democrats who felt lost after the 2000 election (similar to DU's mission), and has officially endorsed DK.

17. Yeah it sucks.
Having to delete three or four emails a day is unbearable.

Good thing you are not a volunteer. I get at least 40 a day from volunteers from all over the country.

I would love to get the money out of politics, but we ain't there yet. With the right leadership, i.e. a grassroots based candidate, it might be possible.

22. Three whole e-mails!
Tomorrow is the last day of the quarter, so they are trying to end with a bang. It's not like they're spamming you with ads for penile enlargement or hot & steamy co-eds.

24. Money is what campaigns run on
Doesn't matter who you give money to, once you give you'll be asked to give more. Repeatedly. It's just one of those things.

BTW, if you are receiving multiples of the same email I'd be curious to know if they are all coming to the same account.

25. Double check your emails
I don't receive Dean emails, but double check the emails you're receiving to see if you can remove yourself from only the solicitation list. At the bottom of Kerry emails there is a link to completely remove yourself from all his lists and another link to remove yourself from only appeals from the fundraising campaign. I've kept myself on both because some of the emails are rather clever (i.e. Stephen Stills' "Something Happening Here"). Even though I'm not a Deanie, I know the emails for all candidates are going to get increasingly important as time goes by. Btw, I can understand feeling uncomfortable about requests for money when you've given all you can already.
