Fox News is covering up Rovegate
I have only heard them speak about it a few times, and when they cover it they bring out Repigs to spin the shit out of the case.

I just finished watching Laurie Dhue's top-of-the-hour news update and there was not ONE mention of the story. Instead we get a briefing on a new "terror suspect" being caught and Kobe Bryant. What a joke.

Isn't it obvious that Fox News is a Repig propaganda station? I feel very stupid when I watch Fox.

If this were the Clinton White House today they would have a gaggle of reporters camped out there and giving quarter hourly briefings.

6. But this is appalling
Fox News is supposed to be news. They're not delivering it though. Aren't its viewers catching on?

The fact that Fox News is the "most watched" in cable news makes me slightly ashamed of being American. Are we this stupid? This is a media COVERUP !!!!!!!!!!!

7. web site suprised me, though..
Edited on Mon Sep-29-03 05:15 PM by starscape
To my utter amazement, Rovegate is currently the top story on fauxnews.com - and it is pretty straightforward, by FOX standards, not the usual spin.

I think it must be some kind of a trick.. they will come out in a minute and say, "Just kidding!" and all the righties will breathe a big, ugly sigh of relief..

8. website? maybe. TV? nope.
It's getting almost zero coverage on Fox News Channel.

But I can just picture O'Reilly feigning shock and dismay with the Bush administration "I think that if there is treason involved then these people should be brought to justice for endangering the lives of Americans." Oreilly tried the same crap a few weeks ago on the absence of WMDs saying "Bush owes us an apology". He tries to play Mr. independent when it's financially convenient for him (people turn against Bush, Oreilly says "independent" things).

19. never thought of it that way..
I bet O'Reilly watches the polls, just like a politician! After all, it's his own "support base" or constituency or whatever.

If a poll came out saying 75% of people supported Al Franken, I bet O'Really would try to make up with him!!

O'Reilly blows with the wind.. and he just blows.

15. Interesting insight
Maybe Fox TV tailor's it's News to the audience demographics....probably they don't get their news anywhere else, don't use a PC, loves flags and wars, and think Dimson is Gawd's gift.

Their internet audience might be far more discerning and expect their news spun less.

20. it's really strange..
The web site is bad too, at times.. in fact I started a thread about it not long ago. THey will bury stories, or the headlines will be manipulative and untrue.. and often the stories as well.

But.. it is very inconsistent. Sometimes, they just run AP stories, and it seems rather level - like today. Maybe someone in their editorial dept. is conscious of how slanted they are perceived as being?? nah..

11. they're not covering up anything
First of all, Tony Snow grilled Condi Rice pretty good about this yesterday. Second, it is so obvious that Fox News is a Republican propaganda station that it is unnecessary to even ask the question.

16. please.
He pressed harder than anybody else on the Sunday circuit. I can't stand Fox News, but I don't see a need to pretend that they never get anything right. Every once in a while they suck less than they normally suck.

And WTF is up with "Skeeza"? Is that kind of crap necessary?

13. Actually, that's not a very good idea for them to do that
People are looking for the facts on this story. Whether they love or hate *. Them ignoring it is not good for their ratings.

18. Laurie Dhue's bottom of the hour "update"
Nope, nothing on Rovegate. Instead, the headlines are mickey mouse stories about how good the economy is and the threat of terrorists to get people scared. I'm not even joking.

23. God, I hate defending Fox News but
Sheppard Smith led with this story. No pundits, just a reporter. He didn't spin it much more than the rest of the media.

I still think they're evil. But they're covering the story.

25. You're missing the point; they have to defend Novak of CNN!
How funny is that? You know they'd love to ream a CNN operative for leaking and threatening national security, but they can't do it.

It's hilarious!
