Joe Wilson LIVE NOW on "This is Hell!" -- line-up and listening link
Edited on Sat Aug-13-05 10:30 AM by Bozita
This Is Hell airs live Saturday, August 13th, from 9 AM to 1 PM (US central time) on WNUR 89.3 FM Evanston/Chicago. We also stream live all over the rest of the world via RealAudio Just go to WNUR's web site (http://www.wnur.org) and click on either the RealAudio or Windowsmedia button found just beneath the heading, "Listen Online." This is Hell is also archived in both RealAudio and MP3 formats. Go to our Archives section to find out more.

Our guests this week include:

* live from Khartoum, Khalid Mustafa Medani, associate professor of political science and Islamic studies at McGill University and an editor of Middle East Report. Khalid's most recent articles include "Black Monday: The Political and Economic Dimensions of Sudan's Urban Riots."

* Ambassador Joseph Wilson, husband of outed CIA agent Valerie Plame and author of the book, "The Politics of Truth: Inside the Lies that Led to War and Betrayed My Wife's CIA Identity" (Carroll and Graff). Visit the site dedicated to Mr. Wilson's book at http://www.politicsoftruth.com/.

* Denis Halliday, former assistant secretary general of the United Nations and United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator in Iraq, who headed the UN 'oil-for-food' program until resigning in protest in October 1998 over the continued sanctions on Iraq

* Bruce Cumings is the Norman and Edna Freehling Professor of History at the University of Chicago, and is the author of "North Korea: Another Country" (New Press). and "Parallax Visions: Making Sense of American-East Asian Relations" (Duke University Press).

And on our program the following Saturday, August 20th, our guests will be:

* Tom Barry, policy director of the International Relations Center, whose most recent articles include "The NED's Latest Front Group: Inside Bush's 'World Movement for Democracy'," and "'Mission Creep' in Latin America - US Southern Command's New Security Strategy"

* Greg Palast, the author of "The Best Democracy Money Can Buy," and an investigative reporter for BBC's Newsnight. Greg's most recent articles include "Labor Pains: The AFL-CIO, Teamsters, Service Employees and Labor's Loves Lost," "'Just Put Down That Law Suit, Pardner, and No One Gets Hurt'," and "China Floats, America Sinks Yuan Kicks Dollar Butt By Rejecting 'Free Market'."

* Renee Boje, the first 'refugee' in America's 'war on drugs.' Renee, living in exile in Canada for her part in a medical marijuana bust in California, where medical marijuana is legal, recently surrendered herself to Canadian authorities. She is currently out on bail pending a decision to be made on September 30th. Renee was on This is Hell two years ago and that interview is currently in our Archives.

* Shamako Noble the second President of the Hip Hop Congress. Shamako is an emcee out of the San Francisco Bay Area, also works at the Riekes Center for Human Enhancement in Menlo, California. The Riekes Center is a nonprofit mentoring organization that utilizes a multidisciplinary approach toward education. Given his background in Hip Hop and education, Noble launched the national initiative to develop a Hip Hop and education program.

We are also currently in discussions concerning a possible return of FBI translator-turned-whistleblower Sibel Edmonds who is profiled in the September issue of Vanity Fair.

2. Yes he is
Joe Wilson is a true diplomat. John Bolton is the antithesis.

Are there any places on the net that host live discussions of This is Hell, while it is airing?

5. I don't know of any
TIH was previously limited to something like 50 or 60 streaming listeners. I believe that this number has been expanded.

You might find a discussion here next week with Greg Palast visiting the show.

BTW, welcome to DU.

6. Discussion II
I have replied to other DU posts on TiH, but those have all dried up quickly, other than a listing of the guests, there is ever any banter. I will be preoccupied next weekend, so I will have to hear Palast on Archives. I want to hear Renee Bojee too.
