So has there been a Democratic response to this twisted version of reality from the chimperor?? This is just plain insanity....

Bush ties Iraq to fight on terror

http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20050813/pl_afp/usiraqbush_050813154730

<snip>

"This war on terror arrived on our shores on September the 11th, 2001. Since that day, the terrorists have continued to kill -- in Madrid, Istanbul, Jakarta, Casablanca, Riyadh, Bali, Baghdad, London, and elsewhere. The enemy remains determined to do more harm," he said.

The president said insurgents kill "indiscriminately, but with a clear purpose."

"They want to force free nations to retreat so they can topple governments across the Middle East, establish Taliban-like regimes in their place, and turn the Middle East into a launching pad for attacks against free people," he said.

Bush vowed to continue to fight terrorists in Iraq, Afghanistan and around the world, "so we do not have to face them here at home."

"When terrorists spend their days and nights struggling to avoid death or capture, they're less capable of arming and training and plotting new attacks on America," he said.

Once the draft kicks in we will be too busy

2. Like tennis: never change a winning game plan
Bush's stupid discourse strikes a chord with many Americans:
the Americans who hate, the Americans who will fight to win
at any cost.

4. that's the core of the issue...is it still a winning game? Of course we
know that once it was his ace in the whole. More americans are starting to at least question this ridiculous reasoning for this war. Some have even begun to think aloud that it doesn't make sense and is costing us lives and so much more.

5. Iraq
I wouldn't blame the Iraqi people if, should they ever get real sovereignty, they have as little to do with the US as possible.

We knew Saddam had WMDs at some time; and we had the sales receipts to prove it. We helped to make Saddam what he was.

And now, if Iraq is a theater in the GWoT, it only after he invaded and attracted terrorists to the country. If Iraq is a training ground for international terrorism, it is because Bush made it one.

Has the US brought anything but grief to Iraq?

How in the hell is this a response too bush's bullshit ????

<snip>

WASHINGTON Massachusetts Senator John Kerry is delivering the Democratic response today to President Bush's weekly radio address.

Kerry, speaking in Spanish, says President Bush's plans to restructure Social Security and add voluntary private investment accounts will hurt Hispanics.

Kerry said Hispanics are less likely to have alternate sources of retirement income, so they rely more on Social Security.

He says it will particularly hurt those who own small businesses, by burying them in new administrative costs and red tape

more....

WASHINGTON, Aug 13 (Reuters) - On the eve of Social Security's 70th anniversary, Democrats said on Saturday they are ready to move toward revamping the financially troubled retirement program but warned against stripping away benefits to retirees and relying on private accounts for funding.

"We have a moral obligation to stand up and protect Social Security for the next 70 years and beyond -- that means stopping privatization and dropping partisan demands for private accounts," said Rep. John Salazar, a Colorado Democrat, in his response to President George W. Bush's radio address.

Social Security, established by President Franklin Roosevelt and one of the key government programs established during the Great Depression, was designed to help ensure that senior citizens could live out their remaining years in financial comfort. It is funded by a tax taken from the wages of U.S. workers and in turn is distributed to retirees.

10. Here's a great idea
Why not ask Howard Dean if he will allow writers from the blogosphere to choose the topic and write the next response to the blivet's next weekly radio address.

Since Cindy seems to be doing a better job than any of them in getting the message out about Iraq, perhaps others with more talent out in the hinterland can take a crack at it.

7. I thought his voice sounded different today-
carefully coached to tone down his "bring em on" arrogance.

In fact, it sounded hollow and souless.

Maybe Cindy's presence is having an effect. on how the WH can continue to spin this BS.

We are the only force to have recently toppled governments in the Middle East. We've done it twice---afghanistan and Iraq---, and are preparing a third---Iran.
