Support Our Troops--
Quick. Easy. Patriotic. Takes less than a minute.

A quick thought or two sending your support to our troops. I think it's a great idea that all DUers should participate in. :patriot:

1. Thanks for the link; I'm late to the party
I am going to adopt a troop somehow, pick one and send letters, care packages, etc.

But the question is: do I (if possible) choose someone who I sympathize with, who has progressive views and doesn't like the situation they are in, OR, do I choose someone on the other side of the fence?

I don't mind supporting the troops, especially the ones who dislike the situation they are in.

Is there a thread where this has been discussed already? I've been to pre-occupied until now to take on something like this.

2. I See What You Mean,
but I wouldn't mind supporting the most illogical RWer if he/she was in the military. Regardless of political affiliation, they need toilet tissue, snacks, foot powder, etc. I don't want to leave one person behind, Republican or Democrat. I just don't believe that is right.

3. In theory I agree with you
but I know that in practice I would have issues with my limited resources being used to support someone who thinks this war was a great idea and that * is the bee's knees. It's the same way I feel about out tax dollars being flushed away on this mess.

Maybe if the supporters of this war who are also the actual soldiers had to face up to the suffering this is causing (on them as well) they might change their positions.

I don't know, I'm just beginning to think about these issues right now.

I want to support a troop, and I will; my compassion at the moment is limited though, unfortunately.
