10. Try the Springfield-Branson Metroplex of Fundiland
Springfield, Branson, and points between and even a bit beyond are the capitol of FundiLand. I say this as a someone who is from Springfield and who has worked in Branson.

15. Eureka Springs...this tiny town has TWO gay festivals per year
And most businesses on the highway have signs up welcoming people. Some of the best gay events I have ever seen were in Eureka Springs.

18. That is actually remarkable.
I'll admit I've only been through that place once in an hour-long gawk session, but that is remarkable.

22. When I first learned of it, I thought it remarkable as well
But when you go there, and see stores with rainbow flags in their windows, and "welcome diversity festival" on the signs...you can't help but accept it!

There was a bar there that for years played host to the festival's main event, a dance. This was not a tiny bar--dance floor, mezanine, etc.. Not HUGE, but it is Eureka Springs. People were standing in line for 30 minutes to go in. You went down stairs from street level (VERY hilly there) to the party, and people would be lined up up the steps and out the door of the building--because the place was literally filled to capacity. They also had activities for two days, ranging from horseback riding to dancing lessons, special sales in the stores. Simply amazing.

If any of the men on here are interested there are complete instructions on how to circumcise yourself using a dull kitchen knife and Crisco on their website.

Also home of Lifeway, Nelson Publishing and the entire Christian music industry. I live here in fundy hell and it seems that every other weekend there's some damned fundy convention in town. It's the Promise Keepers this weekend. Ugh.

24. Funniest thing about Utah...
...when the Mormons want to blow off steam they come down here to Las Vegas. After all what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.

Then they go home and preach about the immoral hedonists in Sin City.

F'ing hypocrites...

21. My research method came up with Atlanta.
"capital (or capitol) of fundyland" googled nothing.

"Capital of the bible belt" (with a and o) generated these unique mentions from about 100 hits:

Atlanta 7
Nashville 4
Branson 2
Lubbock 1
Oklahoma City 1
Minneapolis 1 (historical reference)

Nobody mentioned Waco yet, home of a major fundy college, and not one, but two self-annointed messiahs in the last dozen years?

I know that Minneapolis was a historical reference lol I think they're pretty Lutheran up there if I'm not mistaken.

...they are fairly Liberal for a mainstream Protestant church. Remember that Minnesota voted for McGovern back in the day.
