Share what you're doing for the Sept. 24 anti-war demonstrations
Whether you're able to go to DC or not, what are doing or are planning to do, to support the demonstrations?

Organizing people in your community to attent? (That's what I'm doing). Organizing a local demonstration? Writing a LTTE? Donating money to International ANSWER or United for Peace and Justice?

What's your contribution?

1. DC on the 24th
My family has decided to go, any information on where to meet and what the plan is? Not that familiar with DC as the only times I have been through DC was for dead shows long ago and I don't remember to much about how I got to the white house then.

5. DU'ers are planning to meet in DC. Anyone got the details?
I don't know the details and I couldn't find them when I just did a quick DU search.

I'm planning to attend the United for Peace and Justice protest (as opposed to ANSWER's event). www.unitedforpeace.org

Here's info on ANSWER's protest: www.internationalanswer.org

2. We'll be going-will miss a charity horse show but our country comes first.
We'll be going despite the fact that it conflicts with one of our favorite horse shows, the Re-run all Thoroughbred show in NJ. Proceeds go to find homes for retired racehorses which otherwise would end up on some French gourmet's dinner table. Our horse has won every western class he's ever been entered in at this show (of course usually the competition's pretty sparse--TBs are not the western mounts of choice) and we've been priming him for the jumper classes but it's high time for people to send a message to Bush and we will be marching in DC on the 24th.

3. I am making plans to go, and inviting others to come along.
So far there are at least 6 of us from Ft. Wayne that I know of that are planning to go. I am not positive about it yet, but we will probably go to UFPJ's rally at the Washington Monument, and march from there to join International ANSWER's rally at Lafayette Park across the street from 1600 Transylvania Avenue.

11. I am spreading the word,...

,...shooting to do a transportation pool outside ANSWER.

On edit: no offense to ANSWER,...BUT, they have failed to meat out the common human element and allowed way too much,...ummmm,...expressionalism to dominate, which fails to nurture the REAL pain felt by all Americans. This country, our people NEED nurturing,...the kind that our beloved MLK projected.

15. As a bit of a contrarian
I won't be going, as ANSWER is the sponsor.

The last ANSWER protest I went to was dominated by off topic, off message speakers and protesters.

If the protest on the 24th is focused on ending the war in Iraq and impeaching Bush, then I'm all for it. If it degenerates, as it is more than likely to do, into the usual "End War, End Poverty, Enforce Vegan-ism, Ban Religion, Free Leonard Pelletier, Free Mumia, Embargo Israel, Free Kashmir, Oppress Oppressors, Anarchy for All" operation that usually goes on, then I'm going to give it a miss.

I will, however be doing my bit by standing on appropriate corners in Philadelphia, with my Bush Lied, Thousands Died sign.

16. Check out www.unitedforpeace.org
They're also sponsoring protests separate from ANSWER.

I'm attending the UFPJ protests, myself, not ANSWERs, and for the reasons you cite.

17. Thank you
for the link, but I'm still a bit leary of this group.
They've got too much of a scatter shot agenda for me.

18. I plan on marching in LA
I really wanted to join you all in DC but it's hard to find transportation from Cali to DC. I'm taking my 8yr old because I feel this is a very important lesson for him. This will be my first anti-war march and I want my oldest child to share in the experience.
