Guy James: While sitting at the DFW airport I watched the Fox news
Watched the Fox news coverage of the vigil out at the "ranch". I was there yesterday and was very impressed with the resolve of the folks taking part. However, while watching Fox I couldn't believe my eyes. They said "a woman is staging a protest" never mentioning
Cindy's name and then went on to name every group counter-protesting by their individual names. A more clear bias in the news I have never seen. "Fair and balanced" indeed.

I believe our show from Crawford was a big success and the numbers of listeners tuned in proves that point. A big thanks to all of you who helped make it possible and also, thanks to the many thousands of listeners. We'll do it again someday.

Guy

6. Ben, why don't you say what you REALLY think? n/t
Have had two flights cancelled as of now and can't leave for another hour and a half. You have no idea how glad I'll be to get out of here. I hope my experience here is NOT representative of what Texas is really like. Except for the great DU'ers who I dined with Friday night and all of the great people at the Rally, Peace House and the Vigil, I have had nothing but bad experiences here. In my humble opinion Crawford Texas is the armpit of the United States of America.

10. Who would have thought...
That the Asshole of America would be so near its Armpit?

And you are right, I should really open up more and not be so taciturn.

11. If Crawford is the armpit of the USA,
the hog farm/fake-ranch 5 miles up the road has to be the asshole.

8. Same thing on the Dallas ABC affiliate.
The voice over text about Cindy was OK, but the only images we saw were the Bush supporters getting off the bus and wearing full flag regalia.

5. You're right, Guy, yesterday WAS a success.
Despite the technical glitches and the hostility of some of the locals that you encountered, you took action, showed up, and made the best of the situation. I've been following (and participating in) your show for a while now, and yesterday was the first time that your live thread got SO MANY responses that a second one had to be created.

DU listened, and DU appreciated what you and the rest of the folks did.

7. Making those paying the prices faceless, nameless
That's why the protest on reading the names on Nightline, that's why hide the funerals and the coffins...

Anything to make the deaths and money spent and harm done as abstract as possible.

It could all be happening to another country, or on another planet...

9. You know there has got to be a way to disenfranchise FOX.
First shouldn't lawyers on our side be trying to find ways to deport Rupert Murdoch? He seems very anti-American to me and should be investigated for treason. Shouldn't we be trying to pass laws forbidding foreigners from buying up our corporations? And didn't we once have conflict of interest laws, stating that a business selling X product couldn't buy another business selling XX product because of a conflict of interest? I don't know. I'm just feeling more frustrated today than usual.

14. Amazing isn't it? I just don't know what the answer is though.
Big money is needed for control of stations, networks and satillites, big BIG money.

And who has BIG money? Generally speaking large Corporations and a collection of very rich individuals. I would imagine that this combination would lead to a large prevalence of either "A-Political/Status Quo/Lowest Common Denominator" media or tilt it to the Right. On a BIG scale, not a little one like the Pacifica network or the smattering of small low-watted am stations. Either way they will reflect the attitudes and ideas of their masters.

The liberation of that mass media should probably be the non-Conservative Liberal, Moderate, Left, main goal. However while Gore's attempt (and AA) is admirable it will take legislation, mass action, to break the Corpo Fascist tendencies of the magnificently powerful Mass Media.

Oh and I think the show was great! It was a great idea for you to go and the whole thing played out very well.

Have a safe trip out of "Bushit County" and back to the much more pleasant tropical "Heart of Darkness"!
