DU did it! The shooter neighbor mad about the portopotties! |
|
Mr. Mattlage: When they first came out here, I was sympathetic to their cause, right. They as American citizens have a right to march to protest. It is like this—it’s like having company, if you have your brother-in-law at your house for five days, wouldn’t it start stinking after a while. You are ready for him to go home, aren’t you? Five weeks of this is too much. We live here. It’s our community. Apparently we have no respect over here and we have no respect over here. Somebody has got to get together and clear it out. It’s a damn shame. The news media has got to solve this dilemma. But we got a dilemma here. We got a battle of the porta-potties. You all got started out going to the bathroom in a five gallon bucket. Then they moved one porta-pottie in here. No we got two porta-potties. And now we have three and if this keeps up, it will be all the way down the road. And they’ve got more porta-potties over there (pointing at the Bush ranch). The only one winning here is the one cleaning the porta-potties.
Very good, we helped to pay for those to put em there Mr. Mattlage and from the bottom of my blue DU heart I'm so happy you like them!!! Maybe I'll send another from us!!!

I think there are a total of 4 now... 2 of which members of DU paid for... So I'm rather tickled we've pissed off the neighbor with our gift.

4. So he would prefer the five gallon buckets to porta-potties? |
|
That doesn't seem very sanitary to me. I really think someone that is on site there needs to inform the sheriff's department that they have an obligation to rein this neighbor in. He is threatening unarmed people with firearms and I'm sure there has got to be a law against it.

Porta-potties are unattractive and they, ummm, smell bad sometimes. He shouldn't have been firing off his shotgun, but maybe there's some way to compromise what he has to look at? How about running something like a clothesline in front of them and covering them with light blue sheets or something? (White is too glaring.)
Help the poor guy out. I have a horrible view, thanks to my neighbor, which because of the lay of the land I can't even plant trees to cover the sight. It's been 12 years and I'm still pissed every time I look at that horrible 2-story metal crapola building! :7

One of them got my daughter's cell phone out of her skirt pocket at the Pride Parade a few weeks ago. You have to hang onto everything! LOL Seriously, it would be good if someone from Camp Casey could have a dialogue with this guy when he sobers up. They have done very well with some of the other unhappy people who have showed up. I think Larry has been PO'd since the Imperial Chimpiness set up camp at the pig farm. He is not in a position to do anything about that, but he can shoot and shoot off his mouth about Camp Casey.

28. I'd be pissed as hell, if my street was invaded like his has been. Give |
|
the man a break. Yeah, he's a little off, shooting int the air and stuff, (and yes, I know how dangerous that is), but he does have a point. His "neighborhood" has been turned into a circus. From what I've read there are 700 residents in Crawford, Texas. There were more protesters there than that yesterday. I'm sure they'll all live through it and some don't like it, but everybody's trying to make the best of the situation, considering the president has refused to put and end to it by meeting with Cindy.
I didn't see Mr. Mattlage on t.v., but I've read the accounts here, and it does sound pretty comical. But, in fairness, imagine if you were to walk out your front door in the morning to find hundreds of strangers camped on the sidewalk and porta-potties lining the street. I don't know about anybody else, but I'd find it a bit unnerving. I wouldn't be shooting in the air and I probably wouldn't go on CNN, but that's beside the point. Mr. Mattlage is paying for Bush's arrogance, too. Like I said, give him a break.

GUNS While drinking no less.
That is more than a little off, that is dangerous and a matter that should have been dealt woth more forcefully by law enforcement.
This guy is not just some joke, Some TV uncle Jesse.
He should be treated as a potential threat to life.
That and he is completely against free speech. These people have been there for a week and he is threatening them with guns? And you write that off as a "little off" and something that is "beside the point"?
He gets no break from me until I see a formal apology to those working to end this war in Crawford.
Like I have said to others, I am going. Are you? Come on out and sleep under the open sky while this buddy and "all the rednecks in Texas" are shooting into the sky and swilling cheap beer in an effort to end a peaceful and lawful protest.

I thought about sending flowers, maybe I guess the porta potty fund cames out of the pay pal donations. I would think he and the others would see how bad his behavior makes the supporters Bush look, and heck You are right the poor rancher/miilionaire will have to deal for a while. Many are dealing with a lot worse.

Yes, the guy's a drunk (by descriptions posted here) and he lives in the middle of nowhere, probably because he's not very people friendly. I didn't say what he did was right. I said people should understand where he is coming from and not do stuff to set him off. He didn't ask for this.

I'm starting to feel for him, too. While this thing is bigger than any one of us, including him, I think we can go a long way in making him feel more neighborly considering that, until the 31st, we are all his neighbors. Saralee posted some good info and people followed up with good ideas. No doubt the folks down there with Cindy are already waaaaayyyyy ahead of us. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x4350586
