From Houston:Seeing an awful lot of Kerry/Edwards 2004 car stickers lately |
|
I've been seeing many, many more than when the election was going on. Has anyone else noticed this phenomenon? I am thinking that this may be a way of 'protesting' the current regime, in a subtle way. This is particularly notable where I live, in a VERY Red part of Houston!

in Harris County? I think the good folks of Houston are just more willing to display their leanings now that * is shown to be part of the weenie carpetbagger bunch that the Bush gang has always been.

It was pretty close here in Harris County as I recall, much closer than I would have anticipated. But then, we don't REALLY know the outcome do we? A lot of voters were complaining that if they went to vote a straight Democratic ticket, it automatically filled in a vote for Shrub! They made a big deal out of letting everyone know to NOT vote a straight ticket, but fill in each space individually. Not sure if everyone got the message though...

I can remember seeing maybe three during the election season. Now I've been seeing TONS more K/E stickers - mostly BRAND NEW ones.
Something's in the air.

5. North Carolina: same thing. I think they are reappearing because |
|
they are a subtle message of disapproval, and one does not have to be fearful, since they could be leftovers from the election.
I thought this through this morning, because I was driving a lot on Interstate 40 and in a couple of our cities, and it was obvious that there are more of them now even than 2 weeks ago when I did the same trip. I had in mind googling where they might be obtaining them...even considered asking this very question here! It is definitely happening, and I think if my theory is correct would be a way to encourage people to show their unhappiness without them having to worry about possible trouble over it. That is, after all, how low we have sunk.

As a matter of fact, if you were trying to predict the outcome of the 2004 election in this area based on signs in front yards...well, it looked like it should've been a closer finish at least.

I took it off after the election because of everybody else was around the neighborhood. I didn't see it around and I thought it got thrown away but it didn't (good!) so I was thinking of putting it back on. ;)

I just replied in another thread that my Democratic neighbor just put up his Kerry/Edwards sign again in his yard. I know that he has a long commute and it is a jab against high gas prices. I think I will ask him if he wants a "Don't Blame Me, I Voted For Kerry" sticker for his car.

There were a surprisingly large number of K/E signs and stickers on display in my neighborhood during the last sElection, but then they disappeared afterwards. However, I have noticed 5-6 cars in the past few days with new-looking K/E stickers -- and that is a lot of cars for this place!
I work as a sacker at a grocery store, and the other day a woman who was passing through the checkout lane where I was sacking began complaining about the bad economy and high gas prices...said she worked in IT and was angry at all of the outsourcing (including her job) and was now having to look for a low-wage job in our fabulous service economy. Then she laid the blame for all of our current economic and political woes squarely at the feet of * & Co.
People are waking up...

15. Hey Lady Effingbroke! |
|
the stickers I've seen are brand new Kerry/Edwards 2004 stickers! There were hardly ANY posters/signs or car stickers in and around my neighborhood, so these sightings were what made me go WHOA!
I think that conversation you had with that lady was indicative of what is going on right now. Maybe Cindy Sheehan is giving a voice to a lot of the concerns many of us have had for a long time. That is giving people the courage to stand up! :bounce:

|
I'm in the Montrose, the only reds we see are on top of the little rainbow flags. But it does seem like the Kerry stickers are coming out in force. Maybe Theft 2004 involved some kind of time warp. This is October 2007, isn't it?

Don't you agree that there are waaaayyyy more stickers than in late 2004? Now I remember driving through Montrose around election time last year, and there were LOADS of Kerry/Edwards yard signs, etc, and many people kept them up for a long time after the election, I think as a kind of protest for how things turned out once again. But things kinda died down, and got quiet. However, I think there's a lot of rumbling going on, and maybe people are using the Kerry/Edwards 2004 stickers as a form of protest. IMHO.
Hey, neighbor! :hi:

I think of the stickers as a reminder to all those behind me that I made a wise choice and I continue to support John Kerry. I live in an area where a majority voted ignorantly for Bush, so I get some personal satisfaction in displaying my stickers.

27. I had one on my car until last night. Some one scraped it off!! |
|
...along with plenty of bumper paint. Looks like they scraped it off with their keys. And I live in a "Blue" state and city!! Really ticked me off. Why...so many months after the stolen election...would some Repug feel compelled to vandalize my car in order to destroy my keepsake bumper sticker?!
Luckily I still have a couple UN-used ones stowed away. And with the scratches on that bumper to cover up, a new one is going on a.s.a.p...with new RESOLVE.

However, I am noticing more and more Kerry/Edwards stickers. Its been a gradual thing. Last week, I saw 2 or 3 going to and at the grocery store. I've seen more driving around too. Each time I see one, it just makes me get the BIGGEST smile!!! :hi:
