DU has lowered itself to attacks on Cindy Sheehan's family |

I am disturbed and disappointed. All this based on one unconfirmed and unclear sentence in a Time magazine article.

6. One of the things I like about DU is that the TRUTH is out there. |

Now, attacks?
I don't see it. I've been following DU all day. Yesterday as well.
That thing about the divorce and her son, that's not our doing.
That's stuff in the press and other blogs and boards is being reported here at DU.
It sometimes gets discussed and mulled around.
I don't see this as an attack.
(Maybe I missed something?)

8. Yes, and it's a real shame. |

Whatever personal issues may be going on in that family, I'm of the belief that it is really none of our business.
What matters is the work that Cindy is doing for peace.
MLK sacrificed a lot of time with his young children to work for civil rights (he even sacrificed his life, for heaven's sake), but no one could argue now that he made the wrong choices.
Cindy has chosen to use her time to speak out against the war. That's her right and I support her efforts.

12. We must not try to circle our wagons and become confrontational.. |
|
It isnt as if any of this make what Cindy is doing less. They only make it less if we act like they are huge deals to be debated and attack others upon.
This whole situation is friggin sad. The whole crummy lot. Every family who hangs in the balance of this unjust war and the lies of this bastard president.

9. Cindy has decided to stand up against * |
|
in memory of her son and to try to bring the rest of the men and women fighting in Iraq home. This is a fact. It is none of our business what her family thinks, that's Cindy's business. I'm sure she's weighed the decision very carefully and this is where she stands. The job for the rest of us is to support her decision. There will be plenty of disinformation put in publications and on the net about her for her to contend with. She certainly doesn't need her supporters to argue and keep the stories alive, because by keeping the stories alive it conceivably could make her need to respond to them and that would take away from her message. So..du'ers are you going to argue and keep these pissy stories alive, or are you going to support Cindy in what she's trying to do? I know where I stand.

I feel Cindy is one brave woman who wants to stop the deaths of our young ones in an insane and immoral war.
