Sometimes I have a vision of DU'ers being cats that are
scrambling all over the internet to find tasty morsels and tidbits to drop at their owners (our) feet--looking for praise.
Many times, the owner (us) will look down in disgust over what their precious feline (fellow DU'er) has presented them with...and let it be known.
It doesn't mean that the owner(us) hates the cat (fellow DU'er) for the particularly nasty morsel that it has dropped at their feet, they just hate that they have to see it.
Many ways we are the same way. Everyone is eager to be part of such an important community that they feel the need to do their share and partake in the experience that is DU so they bring back offerings of news far and wide (including the feisty kittens that dare to venture to the dark side).
Always remember...attack the message and not the messenger. If someone has brought forth something, remember they are only trying to participate in the community.
Point of order...we only eat freepers, not each other.
Peace and have a good day today!

2. You mean like posting Rush crap all the time?
Drives me crazy. The ludicrous prattle of Rush and his fellow wacko-conservatives has no place on DU, yet people post every other line out of his mouth and then voice outrage that a known pathological liar had the nerve to tell a lie.

To counter the "know thy enemy" meme before it's stated by someone, there are plenty of people a lot higher on the political food chain that are a lot more dangerous than Rush. Most of the members of the current administration are much more worthy of our concern.

3. Yeah.
But the person who posts it is just trying to keep folks abreast of the other side.
Not saying that I agree with it, but we shouldn't attack the messengers.

10. Actually, I appreciate it
because you'd have to do a Clockwork Orange on me to get me to listen to him.

4. Well
I will say this - I haven't posted on Rush (or Ann Coulter) in a while (well started a post on him, I have responded to posts about him, I'm sure), but such posts are very popular.

I'm a bit of what is referred to as a blogwhore? Although, as of yet, I haven't asked anybody for any money, so I'm not sure where the whore comes in. I used to be able to keep track of what kinds of posts would cause people to get interested and go look at my site (I can now too, but it's more difficult, and I'm less hung up on it). Posts on Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, or any other conservative figure of stupidity were by far the most likely to cause people to look at my blog.

So while I can appreciate that you don't enjoy such posts (frankly I'd agree with some of your criticism that too many of such posts are pretty lazy), they are enjoyed apparently.

8. I guess that my problem is mainly with really short posts, i.e....

"Rush said this and that. He's such a lying bastard."

True, of course, but I don't really get the point other than perhaps venting anger. But then, why listen to him in the first place?

Obviously, I can just ignore the posts, and I usually do. My concern is from a big-picture standpoint. I think it's an incredible waste of time listening to him in the first place, and posting the above seems relatively pointless, since we all know he's a liar.

In reading your post, however, I am reminded that often the intent of listening to Rush and posting about him are entertainment of one form or another.

I guess I'm just not that desperate for entertainment! ;)

5. Good thing to remind us all of.
I felt that way yesterday when I kept seeing drudge as a source over and over again...

Since I am a cat mama from way back, I'll remember your analogy.. hehehe..

sorta like the day my siamese brought mommy back a treat that was still alive (a bird) and it flew right into my face... she tried, but mommy wasn't happy about it. LOL
