What's the endgame here?
If Bush meets with Sheehan and lets here berate him for ten or fifteen minutes....then what happens?

And if he doesn't meet with her, what's her next move? I give her credit, she's getting far more attention than I ever imagined. But I think the old showbiz advice of "leave 'em wanting more" may apply.

Following him back to DC and setting up shop with the rest of the whacky folks in Freedom Park may just marginalize her message.

So...how does this protest play out? I mean, as a news story, it probably has a shelf-life until Labor Day unless something dramatic happens. So, she has about three weeks left in the spotlight. What's the next move?

1. I don't think she has an endgame. I think she has an unremitting pain
that won't abate in this lifetime. I think people support her because they see that...even though some may have political designs on a moment of utter authenticity by a grieving mother.

There is no end game for her..the loss of her son was not a political ploy to gain attention.

2. Consider asking Cindy.
She's pretty down to earth about such things, and she's not hard to find.

4. If she hangs on too long, she'd look nuts. If she eventually "gives up",
it could be a good move. "He wouldn't talk to me. He wouldn't listen. He doesn't care!"

Best wishes to her.

5. It was my understanding...
... that it was her stated intention that she was going to stay there through the month of August/ Bush's vacation. When Bush is done playing ranch hand and heads back to his bicycle in D.C., she will be done, meeting or no meeting.

One difference between Ms. Sheehan and Bush is that she has an exit strategy...

6. Bush is too self-absorbed to ever change his mind . . .
and meet with Cindy . . . he honestly believes that she is "below" him, and that he doesn't have to be bothered if he doesn't feel like it . . . in fact, that's the sum and substance of why he won't meet . . .
