How is Musgrove as a Governor? |
|
I guess this is a question best put to our Southern duers's, but anyone with any knowledge can feel free to tell me. I understand that he is socially conservative in many regards (it is Mississippi after all,) but how is he economically? Is he conservative in those issues as well, or more progressive? Just curious as to what kind of candidates run as Dems for state-wide offices in more conservative states?

2. He fills enough of my bill. |

He believes government can do good for people, for the little guy.
He does what he can, economic development, etc., softening the current national downturn. But the state government form is such that the Lt Gov presides over the state senate, hence appoints committee heads, etc, and has more actual political power (if they go for it, and they always do). The current Lt Gov, Amy Tuck was elected Dem and turned coat to R. Don't get me started on that.
I think Musgrove has a chance against the Barbourian, but I haven't seen polls. His ads seem effective. Barbour is horrible; Josh Marshall's talkingpointsmemo.com has a bit on Barbour's lobbying firm's blood money from Iraq debacle. I'll forgive Ronnie a lot of political angling (which he's doing) to keep his job, since the alternative is so the pits.
