I do not know if anyone has posted about this yet, but there are some rumors that even though the White House is makeing a big deal about the new executive chef being the first female she was not their first choice. To some degree you might say she was their last choice. The rumor is that the White House spent the time before they announced the new executive chef trying to get a famous well known celebrity chef to come and work at the White House. However, none of the chefs the White House contacted wanted the job in that they saw it as a bit of a step down. So the White House announced that the current lady would be the executive chef. I do not know if any of this is true, but that is the rumor.

1. It would make sense... |
|
Most big-time chefs these days are also restauranteurs (i.e. they own their own places, or are at least partners in the palce). So, why go work for someone else when you're your own boss?

2. Going from $600,000 a year to $100,000 making cheeseburgers |
|
and honey sandwiches on request would not be my idea of a good career move for anybody.
And, the Bushes are a Traditional Family. Women become cooks, men become judges.

White House Chef, who had held the position for the past 11 years. Does anyone know why she fired him?

7. I know what you're saying, |

canadianbeaver! My Dad (who happens to live in Windsor, Ont.) voted in his first election in approx. 30 years. I was so excited because here is my 80-yr-old Dad ~ a Nixon Republican ~ voting for John Kerry by absentee ballot in the 2004 election. He's the kind of Dad who doesn't say boo about anything, but he kept saying how he "didn't trust this whole group.....none of them are telling the truth" Well, I woke up on Nov. 2nd to find out my Dad had had a heart attack (he's doing fine) and we still had that stupid idiot in the White House. :banghead:

8. Its good to hear your father is doing well...... |
|
Yeah...this last year and a bit made me realize that I also needed to vote...I had never done this before...The situation in the US made me realize what I have to do...I voted with my heart(voted Green) up here in BC and I am glad I did and ashamed at all the times I missed or didn't think my vote would make a difference...I mean how do you choose between the EVILS...?...
Is there any government that really works for the people and not the special interests or corporations....? Anywhere?....

9. Don't know anything about that, but I do know that she is a |
|
naturalized U.S. citizen. This is good. The chef keeps her position through administrations. I don't care who appointed her or why; I care that she's there now.
