Poll question: Should the troops come home? |
|
I've been reading posts from people saying we can't leave Iraq or civil war will happen, since the start. My rough estimate is maybe 10 out of 12 posts I've read on the subject have been in favor of staying in Iraq. Most people supporting Kerry, Clark or Dean appeared to support their pro-occupation positions.
Now with all the support of Cindy Sheehan, I'm startled by what looks like a sudden shift in opinion (assuming you agree with Cindy's opinion that the troops should come home now).

Most people who have advised us to not "bug out" have been motivated by a desire to NOT subject thousands of Iraqis to retaliation for their (perceived) support of the occupation.
I personally posted an alternative to the "bug-out vs. stay" arguments on a few occasions. It was either ignored or flamed by people who didn't read it all the way through.
With the two (and only two) options left to us, we're screwed either way.

3. I'm having a hard time with this question & answers |
|
Over a yr ago I thought that the USA needed to stay, to help straighten out the mess they had made. Based on new evidence and possessed by the ability to learn, I changed my mind and have been staunchly anti-occupation since (pro getting the UN and other countries involved as they might be able to do something that the USA with its negative history can't). I think that this happened to others also.
I do not know whose posts you have read, and when they were posted, but most of us say end the occupation of Iraq.
Here are some questions for you: Whose posts do you mean? And "most people supporting Kerry, Clark or Dean" leaves who else here? Sudden shift of opinion from when by whom? Finally, why do you have no profile listed? I do not mean to be rude, or accusatory, but have learned to not trust the motives of people who post things like this, with no profile and low posting numbers.

It's good for people's opinions to change according to the situation, of course.
I can't point out a poster, and I don't think I should anyway.
I voted for Kerry but opposed the occupation. So, that's one alternative I was referring to. When I tried to post anything vaguely hinting at the possibility that there could be something wrong with a Kerry position, I would got incinerated.
I've unhidden my very informative profile. I am incredible, which is to say I have no credit around here. I'm kinda opposed to credibility. If you judge my words and share your judgment with me, I'll be pleased.

Thanks. I am just tired of people playing games here. I have only so much energy for it these days. Seems like if anyone posts pro-Kerry they now get blasted. End the occupation. It is good to be able to process new information and learn.

5. I think they need to start getting out |
|
They should have never gone in, but after the initial "shock and awe" I believe they were fucked for a while. There was no turning back once georgie and his people ignored the rest of the world and many many people here in the US and did what they wanted to do. Right now Iraq is a mess, but I think they need to start bringing the troops home. Unfortunately, the government that we "hired" refuses to listen to the citizens of the United States and they will do what they want anyway. I believe we will occupy Iraq and possibly other middle eastern countries for quite a while. I guess my answer would be that I want them brought home and always have. The only time I felt they needed to stay is at the very beginning when they were fucked over by georgie and his cronies.

At least get them to Kuwait, or to Europe, just anyplace where the locals aren't trying to kill them
