Tin foil moment
or are they cleaning the rolls in Cali?

Ok we send for absentee ballot applications, since we are in hawaii, but still California residents (Hubby in the Armed Forces)

The Registrar of voters sits on it for oh until it is too late to demand an explanation... aka the deadline for absentee is tomorrow. (today for some of you)

Instead I get a voter registration which tells me that I am not in the rolls (but wait there is more, my adress in Cali got the material for the election and I voted last General Election)

On this basis I can say that I have been disenfranchised (yes contacting the ACLU tomorrow) and that Arnie will win by a landslide.

Can we all say Florida II?

2. Oh I am calling them tomorrow
And I have sent an Email to Greg Pallast as well...

If William Pitt is interested... though I can also write an
editorial, this is highway robbery.

6. To be honest I have no idea,
Edited on Tue Sep-30-03 01:44 AM by nadinbrzezinski
the first step it to contact the ACLU.

Now I have been in oposition to this Administration since
February and yes I am one of those people who came to this
country from places where this does happen... and worst.

In February I was expecting oh a visit from the feds, since I have
been writing email to congress and all that.

Hence this just raised the level of paranoia.

Taht said, this is the kind of shit that happens in OTHER
COUNTRIES and will only happen here if WE ALLOW IT.

And I uzed to have contacts with local media in San Diego when I
worked EMS... but they have since moved on.

8. well, now that i think
about my post a little more, I would actually wait to contact the media untill after you were advised by the ACLU. They might offer you some protection not available to you as an individual. Then again, I've never needed the ACLU.

Still, if you're a regg'ed voter who requested a ballott and did not receive one, my advice is go get 'em.

I am curious about some of your post. may i send you a private message?

since I am sure he suspects this is going on, and yes I will
raise hell.

5. This may be a test drive of the new voting machines...Stay tuned...
It would be ironic if some hacker (yes, there are a few in the state) rigs the election for:
a) Gary Coleman
b) Angelyne
c) Camejo

What chaos would ensue. Doncha' think...

9. what a SWEET idea.
i mean, how long would they have to serve? no time, right?

and it would be a perfect demonstration of the imperfection and potential misuse of the proposed voting machine.

lol...get 2600 on the recall. too funny.

12. The backdoors are there
as Bev has clearly shown....

Now lets play a game of what if.... this is rigged by
a sweet young hacker from wherever, and we have oh, I dunno...
Carnejo win, or any of the truly unknowns.... what will
Issa do at that point, and most importantly what will
Diebold do?

7. I can't tell you much it heartens me
to hear that you're fighting this. The scum wrecking our country don't even bother hiding what they do anymore. They know they'll get away with their sordid shit, even if it happens in plain sight. Florida, Texas, and now California -- all inside of a mere 3 years -- and most people are just giggling over the goony spectacle of Arnie running for governor.

Make noise, raise hell. You're doing us all a service, and I thank you for it.

13. Received my absentee ballot with no problem...
I'm just as concerned as anyone about the possibility of hackers and the potential "trickery" (to use Ahnold's favorite word) that could ensue with this election. However, I did want to say that my experience has been good. Both my husband and I received our absentee ballots in very fast turnaround time. We're in the state though, so I'm sure that makes a big difference. And we sent in our request several weeks ago.

I would be extremely pissed off, though, and highly suspicious if I was in your shoes. I wonder what they can do about it??? I wonder if you could reach someone in Kevin Shelly's (Sec of State) office tomorrow (yeah, right) and get them to Fedex a ballot to you? Seems like it could still be done - Fedex over and Fedex back.

14. Way after the deadline
I will call the ACLU tomorrow, also this is San Diego
County, and it smells of FLORIDA to me.

Now if this is an isolated incident (and I do pray it is),
and somebody goofed, ok, I can live with it and will re-register as soon as we get back home after my hubby retires or just send in the paper work NOW, since they were nice enough to send that.

And yes I will check the status of that list before the GE.

Now the test will come when the October 7th mess comes and goes...
and if peoople show up at the ballots and they are not in the rolls,
as it happened in Florida, this may be a preview of that.

That is why I am calling the ACLU tomorrow.

16. I seem to remember other stories
during the mid-term election where people received mail or phone calls telling them that their voting place as "shut down" or "closed" and that they would have to vote at another location.

Turns out that the mail/phone calls DID NOT orginate from the Registrar's office. GOPer scam to confuse voters...of course no investigation occured
