I just read on Raw Story that the judge in the Abu Gharib picture hearing

I just read on Raw Story that the judge in the Abu Gharib picture hearing
ruled in favor of holding public hearings on detainee abuse. Actually, the article said that the Bush junta is trying to keep secret the reasons for keeping the pictures secret. The ol' "I could tell you but then I'd have to kill you" defense. Lovely.

You know, when all of this is over, and we've taken back the White House and the Congress (and we will, eventually) I honestly think we will need to establish a "truth commission". We can't let this monumental abuse of power go unacknowledged and unpunished. Too often, politicians say they want to "move on" after a scandal, but the truth is that they want to protect their buddies on the other side of the aisle. The time for that is long passed -- about 1800 bodies ago.
